Let me first say that my Amazon wishlist contains hundreds of Kindle books. Recently, I've noticed something odd.
If I sort my wishlist by price (low to high) and then search for 'dropped' (not with the Amazon search but with my tablet's search function), I find some forty odd books whose prices have dropped since I first placed the book on my wishlist.
However, if I sort instead by price (high to low) and search again for 'dropped', I get a totally different list of books on sale.
Each list ends with a number of books that are not currently in print or otherwise available to purchase. Each list is different.
I find this very curious. What is your experience?
The amazon wishlist does not usually display all entries right away, but updates as you scroll down (if your connection is fast, you might not even see it). But your browser's search function can only access those entries already loaded. So if you invert your amazon search, you'll get two different lists for your browser to search through. If you want to search through all entries, you'd first have to scroll completely down once, so amazon loads all entries, then you can do a complete search over everything.

I will definitely give that a try, Sakuko, to see if it makes a difference. Thank you!
Kareni, I gave it a try; I have 2 lists; Need to buy list; sorted low to high, searched by the word price; same results as I got earlier today; sorted high to low, searched again, same results, different order. I do wait for it to sort all (gives me a percentage count while sorting, and the wishlist takes a while!) before searching.
Then I went to my main wishlist; huge list; sorted low to high, searched, same ones I've gotten for some time; 15 results. sorted high to low, searched, 65 results, none of the ones in the 15 on this search, and a bunch at the end that say "We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock", and a spinning wheel, indicating it's trying to load more. but that spinning wheel doesn't change...or hasn't yet. I tried clicking on one of the titles with the statement; got a cute dog; sorry, they can't locate that page anymore.
So yes, it's happening. I don't know how to explain it, but figure I'll sort & search both directions from now on! And my count dropped; couple titles that the price had dropped nicely & they were ones that I definitely wanted! Hooray!
I just noticed; I've got a long list of .99 titles in the wishlist; only one is showing up in the high to low price sort. Maybe there comes a point the system just can't handle the long (huge!) list?
Thanks so much for doing the experiment, kc; it's nice to know that I have company with this issue. I get a long list of 99 cent books in both directions. You may be right that at some point a long list goes beyond the capability of the search function.
I'm glad you were able to find a couple of books to buy at a sale price.
kc , I did another experiment today. Rather than sorting my wishlist, I just kept it as given (that might be in date order). I scrolled down and down and down and gave up at mid-2017 before searching using my standard dropped. 104 results this way. So, in my case, neither of the other two searches gets everything. I'll have to try doing this on a fast computer sometime rather than with my Kindle Fire.
ETA: And last night (the 9th), I got to the very end of the default list before sorting. Since I'm doing this on my Kindle Fire, it took a VERY long time. There were 185 items with a price drop. So, the lists sorted from low to high and from high to low definitely do not contain all the entries of a long wishlist.
