Samantha K - My thought process is really strange because what I love in 100 books, I may hate in another and it all comes down to the nuances or minor details. I don't remember a lot about this book since I've read so many books since I tried this one but I remember being frustrated that the poor naive h had to stay by his side all day and really wasn't allowed an opinion or given a say in anything. The thing is, if this had been done because he loved her or was obsessed with her safety, I would have been OK with it. I most likely would have liked it cause I'm twisted that way. I just wanted him to consider her comfort a little or for her to refuse to dance to his tune. Of course, it could have been my mood at the time. I love j/p heros but it's no fun with a doormat because I too love the push pull. I probably just need to try this one again because I have a feeling he becomes less scornful or cynical about the mating bond and becomes more caring about the h.
Katie Reus writes some of my fave werewolf books. She has some Nocturne stand alones, and there's the Moon Shifter series and later Darkness series (and there's also the Crescent Moon series under her Savannah Stuart name). Some where both hero and heroine are shifters, some where the heroine is human, there's an occasional something other than than just a wolf-shifter (feline-, dragon- and occasional "stray" vampire). Her heroes are always only-about-the-heroine types (so no cheaty ones), and there's some really good hero-in-pursuit ones (like Primal Possession - perhaps my fave one).
ETA: Perhaps my fave wolf series, after Katie Reus - Rhyannon Byrd's Bloodrunners series (like the Katie Reus Nocturne ones, they're almost to good to be part of this line - they're so much better than I expected). Love it!! Also I love the Jennifter Ashley Shifters Unbound series (not just wolves though)... and of course, the Were-Hunters in Sherrilyn Kenyon's -Hunter world, some of the best around.
...and I'm reminded of the Dani Harper Changeling Moon series (this 3 book series was really good) and the Sharie Kohler Moon Chasers series (one of the earliest werewolf series I got hooked on - might have to go back for a reread, it's been so long since I read these).
I always seem to struggle to find really good werewolf romances. Most I enjoy but the "I love this and I'll reread it" factor are missing. The KA one I love. I'll have to check out your recs. Thank you!
I remember hating that there was no H pov. I needed to understand his motivations.
I thought there were brief H POV's but it's been a while since I've read it. I'm probably remembering wrong. (I need to reread it.) I thought I remembered him running as a wolf and him thinking about the h and being confused by some of her actions - though he loved them. (He was thinking about intimate times with her.)

Like I said, this H is a dominating alpha-hole. He walks over the h and she has no choice in the mating bond, being with him or anything. He does all of this because he has to. (Supposedly.) He enjoys being intimate with her and the sex was smokin' hot. Towards the end of the book she does come into her own and I loved it. There was an interesting development that I don't want to spoil.

I think this may be the first time that I haven't liked a book that you enjoyed. Case in point, I just finished Fury by Laurann Dohner and I really liked it!

Yeah, I loved Fury too. I would hate for you to decide to reread this KA book and then hate it even more, lol. For me, a lot of the time, my love of a certain book depends on the mood I'm in.

If I did reread and still didn't like it, it wouldn't be a big deal other than wanting to harm my poor iPad....lol I'm in that place where I have tons of books on my tbr pile but none of them are appealing at this moment. It is so bad that I can't even decide what genre/ sub-genre I'm in the mood to read.

Oh my goodness! I get in that mood too.
I hate it when I get like this and it seems to happen more often these days especially after I have read several books that I enjoy. I think I will start Blood Submission which you mentioned on the j/p thread the other day. It is KU so even if it is a miss it won't be a big thing. Gotta love KU!
Laurann Dohner wrote a short series (3 books) about wolf shifters that's pretty good. Don't know if it meets all your criteria or not, it's been a while since I read it. Mate Set - Mating Heat Book 1
I just read this yesterday and LOVED it. Thanks for the recommendation. Today I read book 2 His Purrfect Mate which was also fabulous! fyi for anyone else who is interested in book 2 there is a fairly graphic near-rape situation NOT by the H!
The H in the series are definitely alphas but not a-holes iykwim.

I'm so glad you liked them. The second one (His Perfect Mate) was my fav. Are you moving on to book 3 now?
