SOLVED Rom sus, psychic?, h is cop

This is going to be a very vague description, but it's all I can remember.  The H is driving a country road in the evening or after dark. He sees a woman's body in the road, but by the time he stops and goes to look, she is gone. The h is the officer who responds to his call.  H grew up in the town, and his brother has a home there but is rarely home. The brother is wildlife biologist or maybe botanist, and is often away on long trips to remote locations around the world. There is a third brother and they have all been mostly estranged for years. I'm almost positive it turns out the H is psychic.

I've searched through my books and even reread a few (what a chore, right?) and still can't find this story.
