Are you there God, it's me Margaret.
Every girl in my elementary/junior high had read that book. And we talked about it.
And then a little later, Forever. I don't remember it as well. I think the innocence depicted in Forever was overwhelmed by some truly horrific bodice rippers. I'm looking at you, Rosemary Rogers.

I've read Are you there God, it's me Margaret, too. Somehow I would like to see a crossover between Margaret Simon and Beverly Cleary 's Ramona Quimby. Mmmmm..... Possible fan fiction?
I can just see Ramona and Margaret both doing the" We must... We must".... exercise! But I just don't see Ramona eagerly awaiting her first period. Smart girl that Ramona.

foureyedgirl - I read a book a long time ago (and reread it a few years ago) that really stuck with me. It's called The Promise (Danielle Steele). I am very much NOT a Steele fan, but this book stuck with me. It has everything - young love, betrayal, angst. But ultimately it is about the enduring quality of a love that cannot be beaten.

On days like this, I'm glad we're beyond the pink belt with the little hooks
