During those hot summer days in southwest Oklahoma, it's nice to plop down in your fav chair with a good book in one hand and an ice cream bar in the other. And if the book has some cold weather I it, perhaps the summer heat won seem so bad. Two books I read this summer with cold weather are The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder and Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George.

I remember The Long Winter!!! It was painful reading when she & her dad were making straw sticks that took the place of wood for burning! My hands felt all the pain of working straw! And when they got some supplies; that was wonderful! Yes, that one should help you to cool off a bit in the heat! But I'd go for a cold drink instead of an ice cream bar; it would melt so fast, knowing me, I'd get it all over the book or me; read or eat???

I thought of 4 that I liked off the top of my head: Carla Kelly's Mrs. Drew Plays Her Hand which I can loan, Megan Frampton's No Groom at the Inn a funny book although I'm not sure the weather is a big factor in the story, and Dinah Dean's The Cockermouth Mail, a charming oldie, traditional Regency not available in ebook form, and Jayne Fresina's Snow Angel, a great Christmas story that I can also loan.
There's a fantastic historical mystery by Edith Layton, Frost Fair, although it is not a romance. It is definitely worth reading, IMO. Also, I can loan this one , too.
Also, I just started Erica Ridley's Kiss of a Duke, book 2 in her "12 Dukes of Christmas" and finding it cute so far.
