Got an email yesterday about an anthology with eight stories in it and your purchase benefits the Sacramento LGBT Center as the recipient charity. "All proceeds go to the center. The authors donated their stories, the editor and cover artist their time, and we did the formatting and release for free. It feels good to do something like this, especially in these troubled times." I haven't heard of the authors (listed below) but figured I'd have a chance to find a new author I liked while benefiting a cause I like.
Carnal Roomies, by Elouise East Easter Hook-up, by William Tate Fernando’s Marine, by C.W. Gray On One Condition, by Julia McBryant So Stinkin’ Deer, by J. D. Light Spring Fresh, by Posy Roberts Spring, When Love Blooms, by H. M. Wolfe and E.L. Nelson Under His Scars, by AC Graybill
August 1st. The Enforcer Enigma: The San Andreas Shifters Gail Carriger. Original estimate had a November release so I was surprised about this:) No page count on GR or Amazon but the previous books were both 300+. Oddly enough they were both 317 pgs. I imagine book 3 will be something similar. I’m excited. I liked book 1 (it had some deficiencies in world building) but I loved book 2. ***my copy of book 2 is still available to loan. It could work as a standalone.
kareni, sent:) This book doesn’t fill in the gaps from book 1 but it’s more about pack dynamics and a greater emphasis on the relationship. It was just better overall. Hope you like.
Josh Lanyon: I debated posting this cuz she cannot seem to adhere to her (self-imposed) deadlines but her website says the preorder price will be lower than the release price. In the past, the “preorder” sale price lingered for about a week after release but that’s not a guarantee.
June 5th Murder is Served: Two Novellas I don’t recognize the titles (Put Out the Light, Castle Doom) so I think these are new. I like the cover...I’m getting a Downton Abbey vibe. Could be interesting but I won’t be counting on it. $5.99 and no page count.
June 8th The Movie-Town Murders: The Art of Murder 5 Again, I think this is the final book. I’ve read up to 3...the mysteries are kinda unbelievable and the relationship is pretty bland. Nothing really advances. It’s all one step forward, two steps back.
There was supposed to be a sequel to This Rough Magic (A Shot in the Dark Book 1) but I’m guessing this’ll be a looooong wait. Too bad cuz I really liked Rough Magic. They have a nice Christmas Coda too.
Her blog says that the far dates (2021) will probably move up. She can move up without penalty. Pushing it back is the problem...miss too many dates (which she has) and Amazon won’t let authors list preorders. She technically should have already lost them but Amazon relaxed the rules (for all/many authors) due to Covid. I guess she makes the bulk of the money on preorders. I didn’t care for her blog post. It had a victim-y tone—she’s not writing much, “terrified” of missing deadline, and may take out a second mortgage to get through. Trying to drum up some sympathy orders, imo.
As I said, I’m listing cuz these are supposedly cheaper for preorder. You might have to preorder now. If (HUGE if) these get moved up and you haven’t preordered, then you’ll miss the discount. I’ve WL’d but I’m not planning on preordering and might not notice a bumped up date. Just FYI
Game Changers (4 book series) Book 4 is the new one, releasing end of September. I had already posted this but she has a new Blog Post with more info and an update about the rest of the series. Book 4 features a goalie so I’m excited about that. Book 5 is about some peripheral characters...I’m a bit meh about this, tbh. I’ll read it cuz I think she does a pretty good job on the hockey elements and I like her writing. Book 6 will be another Shane & Ilya book! They’re the couple in book 2 and they’re my favorites.
No dates or anything beyond the scheduled book 4. I’m guessing at least a year, prob more like 18 months.
Red Heir Lisa Henry & Sarah Honey. 234 pgs./$3.99. Released last week. Henry doesn’t do much advertising (maybe more on social media but I don’t follow) so I usually don’t find hers until after they release. Eh, I would have 1clicked if this was just Henry but I’m less enthused about the coauthoring. Never heard of Honey so I’ll be sampling first.
August 18th #20DaysToLA Tanya Chris.. 267 pgs./$2.99.
September 1st Naked Ambition (Grim and Sinister Delights Book 1) Lisa Henry. 168 pgs./$3.99. Per the summary, Naked Ambition is a dark and modern M/M retelling of The Emperor’s New Clothes. I like her but, tbh, this story doesn’t appeal. I’m sure I’ll read it at some point...I’m just not gonna be counting down the days.

I'm with you, mjbett. I usually like Lisa Henry but the one H sounds cruel. I don't typically like books where one character deliberately sets out to hurt the other and I'm supposed to root for their HEA. Nope. Unless one of you reads it and says that she manages to pull this off, I'll pass. Or did I read it wrong and the "low level office drone" is the final H? Doesn't matter. I spent my $30 bucks today in the last few days so I have that $8 credit. I have way too many books to read! :-)
