Natasha, Cincinnati in SW Ohio has a very strong German heritage. While not settled by Germans, a great deal of Cincy's development is due to Germans. At one time, 12 streets had German names on them. They were renamed during WWI due to anti-German hysteria, but were recently restored. For 3 the names were changed back, and 7 have the German names on the post on blue signs, but didn't have them changed back to the original due to various challenges. We have quite a few German restaurants in the area, the Maifest concert in the spring is wonderful, and the Octoberfest (in Sept.) is the 2nd biggest in the world, right behind the big one in Germany. Yep, quite a bit of German heritage in this state! Not to mention the beer!! A lot of German beers in the old days, & quite a few redeveloping these days!
Re the 1st in the Inn Boonsboro series, if I remember correctly, Beckett had always loved Clare but she'd loved someone else, married, moved away & now come back with her 3 sons after the husband was killed. And I think she's been back a while; Beckett's a bit slow on the move. I don't think we can actually call this one insta-love. #2 book; Owen was Avery's 1st boyfriend & she has to come to realize that he's going to be her last one; #3 book; This one comes closest; but Ryder is fighting tooth & nail what he's feeling for Hope as is Hope! Actually, I enjoyed the renovation details, but the folks had to renovate every house we lived in; just seems great to see the inn being salvaged. Plus some nice ideas in there, esp. the tile rug in the entry room. Unfortunately, my entry is a bit small for that...
I think we actually read a lot of HR, judging by what I see listed some days. But maybe we're just not getting into the discussions of them? I'm currently reading Shana Galen's Third Son's a Charm (Survivor's #1) and dipped into Sarah McLean's Ten ways to be adored when landing a lord while I was taking a break. That's dangerous! Hard to get back to work!
