Sometimes I'm okay with a cliffhanger, but it irritates me when the author takes forever getting the next book out. I did get tired of so many authors jumping on the cliffhanger bandwagon. I know...it's a revenue maker for authors and publishers...
Nope, I don't read cliffhangers. If the author gives warning it's a cliffhanger, I wait until all the books are published as one collection. If the author does not warn a book is a cliffhanger, it gets an automatic 1-star review from me no matter what I thought of the storyline.
YES!! Remember the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning? The cliffhanger when Mac was on the cliff? Drove me nuts. Then I had to wait more than a year before the next book came out. I don't mind them if the next book is already out. I don't care for them if I have to wait.

I'm not a fan of cliffhangers. I hate having to wait for the next in the series wondering if and when It'll be published. If the book is stated as a cliffhanger I move on to another book. If there is no warning and it turns out to be a cliffhanger the author has lost a reader.
I read blurbs in advance and I look at reviews, too. There are some authors I won't start until their series is done because they take too long between books. If it's a favorite author of mine I'm more incline to give it a try. I don't mind a series, however I do like it better when the book I'm reading has a conclusion. The author then moves on to a different storyline in the second book or brings side characters to the forefront. Then I don't feel like I'm missing anything if I decide not to move on with the series.
If it's a cliffhanger for the relationship in the romance: forget it! I want my HEA by the end of the book. Sometimes I'm okay with HFN's figuring there will be an HEA at the end of the next. Bit like Lavinia & Tobias in the 3 book series. Not among my favorites in the Amanda Quicks: I like the couple but didn't like having it stretched out so. They did have a different "adventure/mystery" each story, but just didn't work for me. Having a mystery stretched out over multiple books in a series, fine, as long as the most important part (the romance) is settled. I'll just have to reread probably as books are released to keep track of the mystery.

Me too! And I hate cliffhangers. I'll read a serial if it gets published in one book. But I'm not going to wade through three books (or whatever) to get to a HEA. Too much work, there are tons of books I could read instead.
Doesn't it make you wonder what percentage of readers actually like cliffhangers VS how many stay away from them? The writers and publishers continue to put them out there.
I research every bk I purchase and post in Free Today since I detest cliffs. Some authors are really tricky about hiding that they are cliffs. I auto bypass several authors as most of their series are cliffs. I've posted this before but believe this is a good example of what can happen with a cliff as there have been 3 bk series where the 1st 2 bks are cliff and the 3rd is no longer for sale or never published. There was a free bk recently that is a cliff and published in 2016 and no new book or other bks pub for this author on her product page.
I will say historical romance/regencies rarely have a cliffhanger, except for a few historical western/mail order brides authors.
Back in the "dark ages" of Kindle Fire..2011 (LOL) and thereafter for a while I was dnldg freebie cliffs not knowing any better that authors would so something like this.
