I liked Valley of the Shadow, didn't love it. The novella continued Boajia and Natalie's story from Blood and Sand. I listened to the audio in 2015 and I've forgotten the details of their romance. Boajia is a water vampire and Natalie is a reporter investigating missing women. Along the way they fall in love. Present day, they are married and have 2 children. The plan is to turn Natalie into a vampire when their kids are older. Unfortunately, Natalie is diagnosed with breast cancer. They decide to turn Natalie into a vampire now instead of waiting. It's also a bit of a reunion with past characters all there to support Boajia and Natalie as well as celebrate Christmas together. It was short and rather sappy as so many holiday books and novellas are. Unless you've read the series and were a big fan of Boajia and Natalie you could easily skip this one and not miss much. The e-book ends at 89% with promos for other books taking up the rest.
