What is the longest book you’ve read? How many pages? (You can look that up on Amazon!)
I think mine is The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith.....695 pages. It's not a typical romance...but there is one. It's considered a sci-fi-romance.

I read this several years ago and enjoyed it, but it was definitely LONG! I'm usually an avid re-reader, but the idea of re-reading this book gives me pause.
I've probably read longer books in the past...hmm, I wonder how Les Miserables compares in length.
This is the first book that came to mind so I'll go with it, read it in hardcover, Amazon says 1048 pages...
Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (9/1936) (A Subtle) Civil War

Never read it, but I can say I saw the movie!!
~Linda~
Linda, I saw the movie once, too. What an epic production. So many scenes, so much color and drama. I have the book on cassettes but the narrator is escaping me at the moment, she did a fine job though. No happy ending so that was disappointing.
It's hard to compare books by pages because page count will be different between hardback, paperback, or ebook. I looked at a list of the longest fiction that goes by word count, and the longest for me would be War and Peace, Les Miserables, and Atlas Shrugged. I think Texas by James A. Michener would be close to those, as well, followed by Gone With the Wind, and The Source by Michener.
I'm not sure if it is the longest, but when I was 11 years old I read War and Peace, and it's about 1200 pages. I think some of the books in the Wheel of Time might be longer, my favourite "Lord of Chaos', was 1007 wonderful pages.
Probably And Ladies of the Club by Helen Hooven Santmyer. 1188 pages, but totally worth it. I've also read a few massive works by Brandon Sanderson (sci-fi/fantasy) and Dave McCullough (History/Biography) that might beat it out.
You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.
I think The Stand - Stephen King was the longest at 1348 pages. Shogun - James Clavell was an other long book at 1140 pages. I wouldn't be surprised if R.Lee Smith's FNAF fanfic exceeds The Stand in page count and she isn't finished yet.
I keep wanting to read The Last Hour of Gann again. I thought that book was excellent. We could have an R.Lee Smith group read if there are enough of her fans here. Either read one of her books the first time or re-read a favorite.

I'd read any of the RLS books again...count me in.
For me there is nothing better than an excellent looooong book! If it's really good the longer the better!
I think of books I had to read in high school and college. We'd be forced to read a chuck of pages and although it was probably 50-ish, it felt like 500...5000...as it if would NEVER end. But now I get into a book and if it's good I'm mowing through it. I know...it all has to to do with interest or topic, but those forced school reads were brutal to a teenager/YA!!
I did read Lord of the Rings in pbk, altho not this edition. In pbk this runs almost 1200 pgs, so probably about the same. Looking at some of your responses, I did read the Stand, oh so many decades ago, same with Gone With the Wind. I even reread that one! Tried the Russians & just couldn't get into them, did read Hawaii & Centennial. I remember reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens in the 7th grade; required reading, and the only way I finished it was by telling myself I couldn't read anything else until then! But looking at Wikipedia, the first ed. was only 544 ppg. Sure seemed a lot longer at the time!! Probably others in the distant past, but they're not coming to mind. But Lord of the Rings, it came to mind! And yep, I read the 3 books straight thru. Did get a bit challenging keeping the names straight some days!
I almost forgot: I couldn't get into Atlas Shrugged, but I remember reading Fountainhead and enjoying it. This ed. is only 752 pp; probably about right. What I really loved of Ayn Rand? Anthem Very short, but a dystopian future where utterance of the word "I" is punishable by death. I read this in my late teens, so of course, it appealed!
I forgot about both of those books! The Stand, which I still have my HB copy, is my favorite SK book. I don't read him anymore. And James Clavell's Shogun, actually the whole series, was wonderful. Thanks for reminding. It may be time for more rereads!
When Shogun first came out I had just had a surgery (hernia repair, I think). My parents came to visit and my father brought me a copy. He inscribed the inside to me. Now he's gone so it means that much more to me. He's the one who got me hooked on Michener's books, too.
