I started "My Outlaw" by Linda Lael Miller, and I'm absolutely loving it so far. I love the dual modern-day (well, mid-90s) setting and how she's balancing that with a time travel old west plot.

Finished reading, and really enjoyed Sentinels of the Galaxy (3 book series) by Maria V. Snyder (Book 3 released today, Books 1 and 2 currently discounted to $1.99 each). Great YA fantasy (future space opera with romance elements; and a back story of faster than light travel referencing ancient portals guarded by Terra-cotta warriors).
I finished Murder in the East End by Jennifer Ashley, the 4th book in her Below Stairs Mystery series. I liked that we got some more info about the hero, Daniel. The series is slowly developing a romance between Daniel and Kat, the heroine/cook. It's an entertaining story, and I really liked the descriptions Ashley added about Kat's cooking, especially the desserts. Too bad we Americans don't have English tea. I could get use to that every day.

In between eating and napping today, I managed to finish a book I'd recommend, The Virgin Who Ruined Lord Gray by Anna Bradley. We have an ex Bow Street runner/now reluctant Earl Lord Gray hero. Gray finds his life as an earl boring after his time as a runner, until he meets Sophia who is trying to save her innocent friend, Jeremy's, life. It's a well-written, entertaining, and fast-paced story, at least until a chapter describing our couple's intimate activity, which I skimmed. The secondary characters were good, also.
If you want a different take on a Historical Romance, it's a complete role reversal on the traditional historical romance and so far it is quite entertaining and the chemistry between the H and h is in my opinion scorching.

I finished A Duke for Miss Townsbridge by Sophie Barnes that I enjoyed. The heroine is the hero of this story, imo, because she helps the duke face his unhappy childhood and move on. She earns her hea.
This has been a year when the vast majority of my reads were rereads, which is one reason I posted so little in this thread. With everything else going on in the world, very few new-to-me books held my attention or even interested me enough to start them. I didn't bother to track my reading on GR, either, with a few rare exceptions. I ventured away from the romance genre more than usual. I've talked to many avid readers who have struggled this year. I hope next year is back to normal!
All that being said, I did enjoy Julie Miller's new books for this year, and a couple from Janice Kay Johnson. Return to Virgin River by Robyn Carr was good and one of the better books of the series, I thought. I have started Grace Burrowes' new one, The Truth About Dukes, and have hopes for it based on reviews; I've been disappointed the couple years with her newer stuff.
I'll come back tomorrow and post links for all these. My small tablet I use most of the time has been acting weird the last few days, so I'll get on the bigger (and much newer) one tomorrow to update with links.
I am reading the new Julia London's A Princess by Christmas, book 3 in her series A Royal Wedding. The thing I like best about the book is the heroine, a widow who has a charming personality and the hero who appears to be just an average guy who likes his simple life. I'm not sure since I'm not finished, but the title seems a bit wrong for this book. But I'm liking it a lot.
Also been struggling last 12months with reading and have done a lot of rereads, mind just keeps wandering but in the last month have started to settle a bit. Just finished The Christmas Foundling by Martha Keyes a sweet gentle read but I did find it a bit sad as it was dealing with a couples infertility which back in the 1800's I am sure would have been very difficult. Does have a happy ending.

"Sweet and gentle" describes a lot of what I've wanted to read. A few favorite rereads are downright cheesy, but that's what I needed. I rarely read Christmas books, but I did go back and read Christmas Ladies: 3 Full-Length Holiday Regencies (Windham Series) by Grace Burrowes in November. My favorite of the three is Lady Sophie's Christmas Wish because of the Hero. He's so cute teaching her how to take care of the abandoned baby in the beginning.

Yep, I love that one & I'm tempted to go reread it now...but I'm still in the In Death series; currently into Witness In Death (#10) so I've read 9 & 1 novella so far! I had it in my mind that I didn't care for this one that much but I'm rediscovering so many wonderful little bits like Eve coming home to Mavis playing her latest release for Roarke in the parlor--and him wondering for a bit if the crystal was going to make it!--then shoving Nadine into the "girl night"-Sneaky Eve! But yes, I'd prefer a vid & popcorn with Roarke to girl night myself!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one doing a lot of rereading. It seems since March that's about all I've done. Happy, simple rereads with nothing but HEAs.
No HEA and I dont bother. Took me forever to finish listening to Me Before You by JoJo Moyes, great book but I was crying buckets. Forewarned hubby to ignore me while I finally listened to the last 2hrs, this is definitely not on my relisten list.
I had a bit of the same problem with the Movie Return to Me with David Duchovny & Minnie Driver, plus a great group of older folks, like Carroll O'Connor. I cried buckets at the beginning of the movie. But I was cheering at the end, so it's one that I rewatch quite a bit! But yeah, if no HEA, why bother in this day & age--enough trouble out there as it is!
