Bitter Falls was another exciting thriller in the Stillhouse Lake series. The series is about the family of a convicted serial killer. Melvin Royal may be dead but there are still people who believe Gwen and possibly her children were accomplice's to the horrific abductions and murders. They'd been on the run for years and had hoped they'd found a home on Stillhouse Lake. After the notoriety of stopping a religious cult and solving a kidnapping in Wolfhunter River they were looking for some down time to recover as a family. Unfortunately, the publicity has only emboldened those who want them gone. Gwen, Sam, Atlanta and Connor know that the situation in Stillhouse Lake is getting worse and plan to move on. First Gwen has to investigate the disappearance of a young man. The investigation has ties back to Wolfhunter River. There's more than one missing young man. Gwen finds a woman on the run from the cult and the family reunites with the teenager Vee from Wolfhunter River.
I've enjoyed this series but some of it is hard for me to get through. It's graphic and very suspenseful. I love the multiple POV and narrators. When the story gets too intense I switch to the ebook to read faster. The entire series is part of KU read and listen. I know at some point I'll borrow the book again. The audio won't be so intense the second time.
The series has to be read in order.
