HR, Hero believes his wife (heroine) betrayed him and treats her cruelly

do you remember time period? Medieval? Victorian? etc? I swear I remember reading a book similar to that.

This sounds really interesting. Hope someone is able to identify it.

I need someone to figure out this book title and author. I need to see how hard this husband grovels.

I remember reading a story that had a scene like that.  I want to say it was a Viking story or something like that, written a while ago by Johanna Lindsey or some similar author.  I could be way off though, of course, but I'd like to read it again also.

Elizabeth Lowell had one that started similarly--one of the Only series--but while it started in England, where she ran from someone attacking her & took refuge with the H & was discovered there so they were forced to marry--he took her back to the "Wild West" & made her work very hard--telling her it was typical of western wives, not like the "soft life" she'd had up till then. He was trying to force her to leave him & go back to England but she was so afraid of what faced her in England she was caught between the rock & the hard spot. I seriously doubt it's the one you're looking for, but the similarity struck me. Only Mine
