Oh my, I forgot to say how much I loved following Jack and Rebecca'a journey as parents on the show too. Mandy Moore has been amazing in her aging role through the series' decades, especially showing the heartbreak of dementia. She does deserve an Emmy!

Parents @ times are second-guessed by their birth families, in-laws, teachers etc. Young Sheldon was new last night. Mary, Sheldon's Mom, felt criticized by all sides. She was asked to take a break from her pd work at her church. But was she fired? The best scene IMO was when her twin daughter gave her a hug. I think Granny, played by Annie Potts, might be able to solve this family challenge.
Mlover, I happened to see the episode on Young Sheldon. I don't watch it often. I guess I don't remember people being that judgmental in 1992. Maybe it's because they live in Texas and attend a Southern Baptist church.
I thought it was horrible how the kids at Sunday School acted towards Missy and the pastor asking Mary to take a leave of absence was outrageous. Would that even be legal? Mary should have told him no and even call a lawyer if she gets fired. But Mary is unassertive and apologetic for her family and feels she is responsible for her son's behavior.
But the one thing that made me laugh is Pastor Rob's obvious attraction to Mary and her skittish reaction to his comfort during a difficult time. She doesn't want it to look like anything is going on when they meet, but as problems keep cropping up, I wouldn't be surprised if Mary is tempted. If I had her husband, I would be tempted too. Bless Missy for giving her the hug at the end when she was going to pieces.

I watched Big Bang Theory (BBT) TV show for yrs. I thought Mom (Mary) was harsher on BBT. Mary's spouse on Young Sheldon gives her little kudos. The Youth Pastor Rob must look pretty good to her. BBT informed viewers that Mary was divorced & preachy about her faith. And they implied Sheldon's Dad drank too much.

I heard something on the news today that surprised me. You know we're having a problem on our Southern border, US/Mexico, with thousands of people crossing the Rio Grande river into the US from Mexico. Today I learned that there are crocodiles in that river! They showed footage taken yesterday of a 12 foot crocodile swimming in an area where many are crossing. How scary is that? Was anyone else aware of this?
Yes, it's why they caution not to go into those waters and the currents are also are so dangerous. Which should give people and idea of what those willing to face an uncertain fate than to return where they came from, are internally and externally running from and fighting for. It's horrible to see, adult or child, and I don't know anyone can imagine living such a situation.
I knew the currents were bad, can be very treacherous in the Rio Grande, and yet in the westerns, they seem to have no problem crossing. Ah, movie fantasies...but no, I was never aware of crocs! OMG...wonder if they developed naturally there or flushed out of a city's sewers over the years...or multiple cities... And considering what these folks are dealing with on the treks north as well as who knows what's going to happen when they get to the border, it's told me for years that life must be extremely bad where they're coming from! I'm so lucky, my families immigrated centuries ago---Dad tracked our genealogy...my sister & I could apply to the Daughters of the Revolution!
Beautiful young Rebecca was waiting for someone on a train. Her comfortable, spirit guide on the train, was played by Randall's natural father (the musician). The bartender was the ob/gyn who delivered her triplets years ago. She saw her kids at various ages on the train. A well-done analogy. Jack was there too.
(2) PBS American Experience last night honored artist Tyrus Wong.
Ty + his sire came to America from China. Ty attended art school in Calif.: just before he graduated, his father died.
Ty worked for: Walt Disney as an animator & did the background art. He did much of the art on Bambi. Hallmark: he did art for greeting cards and Christmas cards. Warner Bros. he did the story-board art for too many movies to count IE How the West Was Won, Harper, Calamity Jane...... Warner loaned him to Republic Studios: he did story-board art for John Wayne movies. Company name (?) he did dinnerware art for them. He made bespoke beautiful kites & sold them.
Congrats on you could be in the DAR (if you applied)! My close friend's late Mom was a member of the DAR.
On National Wreath Day each December 17th, a wreath is placed on the grave of each military vet in America. At all cemeteries. I recently learned DAR coordinates the volunteers who do this.

I'm not a tattoo person, I don't have any but I figure it's a each to his own. This guy went a bit overboard. To me it's a "what the heck was he thinking??" look.

With all respect, who'd hire a person with so many tattoos? There was a priest in Calif who fundraised to have the tattoos of young men removed b/c prospective employers would not hire them. Employers thought all that body art was gang-related.
Mlover, I'm really enjoying these final episodes of This Is Us. The train ride to Rebecca's final resting place was a good analogy where she says goodby to everyone and gets to be with her true love, Jack, at the end. You just knew that he would be there waiting at the end. I hope we get another sneak peak at the characters' futures on the final show.
MLover I hope you recover quickly. I watched This is Us the first season but it was too confusing and I couldnt stick with it. Thanks for the recap Ms. D. I have been wondering what was happening this season.
