I told myself I wouldn't get caught up in the Downton Abbey marathon that E channel has been running since yesterday morning but shoot, that story is addictive! I just watched Mary's wedding ceremony, now the newlyweds are home from the honeymoon & arguing about the money; The Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) & Cora's Mom (Shirley MacLaine) are trading barbs--dang, can those gals deliver a line! and the poor Earl is worrying about the costs--while the stove is getting worse & the servants are running the usual intrigues. Such a great soap opera!

I own the whole series on DVD. IMO Mary (the eldest dtr) & Matthew were the best couple. The Dowager had the best zinger lines. And the crusty butler Mr. Carson & Mrs. Hughes the housekeeper had to solve food, staffing & protocol problems. Tom, the earl's chauffeur, eventually wed one of the earl's daughters. Good Show! I hope to see the new film at the theatre, soon. (Hope I offered you no spoilers).
I saw an interview with Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope in the Bridgertons series on Netflix. She said they are skipping book 3 about Benedict's love story and season 3 will be about Penelope and Colin's friendship to love story (which is actually book 4 in the Bridgerton book series). She is nervous about the love scenes and being the lead this time. I assumed from the plot in season 2 that included so much about this couple from their story in book 4 that it would be out of order and be the couple next season. I don't know if they'll go back to Benedict and Sophie's story or combine his story with another sibling's season in the future.
Here's a nice picture of the actors who play Penelope and Colin out of costume. Nicola looks pretty with the short blonde hair.
nope, no spoilers, mlover. I watched the series when it originally ran. I missed the first few episodes so have that season on DVD. So far, I've not bought the rest of the seasons but have a sneaking suspicion they're needed in my collection. I do have the 2019 movie...don't know if I'll see the new one in the theaters or wait for the dvd to release. They sure don't wait that long to release dvd's anymore! Probably better than losing sales to those folks that record & post the thing online! That & our patience just isn't there anymore...
I wanted to give a brief update since I've been away for a couple of days. Mom had a bronchoscopy and biopsy on Thursday. We won't have the results until Wednesday, but the doc is certain she has cancer. We just don't know what kind yet. I've been staying with her but my son is coming today. He'll be with her over the weekend and hubby and I will get a break. I'm exhausted so I'm planning to rest up while my son is here.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Happy reading!
So sorry to hear this, agreads! Agree with JaniceC; hopefully it's been caught early & can be successfully treated! Rest, gal, you're going to need it, I'm sorry to say! Take care!
Agreads, sending prayers for your mom and I also hope this was caught early and can be successfully treated. Get some rest so you can continue to support your mom. She's lucky to have you!
