Charlotte "Lottie" Lamb was the soft-spoken (except w/ friends) woman who was Elizabeth Bennet's friend in the classic P&P.
Lottie's sire had been knighted.
This was a variation on 27 YO Lottie's life. Elizabeth had a few cameos in this book. This had a mostly low key spiritual element.
Hero, Jack, was 13 yrs Lottie's senior, and recounted when/why Navy men pray.
Lottie became engaged & then un-engaged (she broke it off) to curate Mr. Collins. She and her 12 YO brother took the stage
to visit their aunt and uncle.
Dynamic Royal Navy man, Captain Jack Blunt, rescued those on the stage, including Lot + bro, from 2 highwaymen. Jack was
Lottie's uncle's cousin and heir. The MCs started tense, but gradually fell for each other. He called her "Diana." He listened to &
appreciated her. They argued some, but felt comfortable together. A mature, loving hero. Lottie stood her ground, as needed.
