Luc Blake and his 2 mates drank/ chased women/ did pranks together. They are/ were  known
as the "difficult Dukes." Recently Blake and one such mate, Ripley, dueled over a woman, who
Ripley "stole" from him. Ripley married her. His other mate Blackwell & his wife Alice avoided
each other.

Bosky Blake caused Cassie's  conveyance to crash. Her head coachman/ former jockey/ friend
was injured and her maid ran away. B+C+ coachman were alone at an inn. Blake + uncle sent
for Cassie's female relative. Blake paid people to say he was never there. The MCs were child-
hood friends and she had had an adolescent crush on him.

Over time Blake grew as a man and learned to restrain his behavior. And to make better choices.
He proved to Cassie she could trust him. This had a 'slow burn' and the love felt real. Cassie
softened somewhat, she learned she didn't always need to be in control. He gave up some
control too.
