I loved this author's original Bridgerton series and Bevelstoke series. But she lost me
w/ the untalented musician (?) sisters in the Smythe/ Smith series. And those who
followed.
This was a disappointment with a lackluster couple Nick (training in Scotland to be a
physician) & "Georgie" who'd recently been kidnapped by a funds-to-let cad. Nick's
parents pressured him to wed his childhood friend Georgie to save her rep. The MCs
both had tempers & were not attracted to each other and cursed in front of mixed
company (!) & discussed bawdy women at a family dinner (!).
Nick was a virgin. I don't expect my heroes to be Romeos, but I favor one w/ some
experience. The 2 wed.Then both sets of parents pressured the newlyweds to bring
13 servants to Scotland. Who would pay all these salaries? Yes, I know, some servants
would make the return trip w/ the 2nd carriage.
Where was- the author's trademark humor? bantering via the MCs? fallible but loveable
MC + other characters? real-deal love? Perhaps Bow Street could help find the locale
of these missing special elements?
