I know, mlover, I thought the same thing, but Burrowes makes it work. He's not my top favorite of her heroes but he's a good one!
I picture the vicar lecturing the heroine, not getting to know her.
Not at all. He is very practical in his faith, and Burrowes makes it such a natural part of his gentle, kind character. He has a very strong sense of honor and discipline, but at the same time he loves to be a little mischievous and playful. He rides a huge black horse named Beelzebub, takes in a pack of unruly boys to tutor in readiness for public school, and gently, kindly, but very firmly sees that justice is served to someone who wronged him and his family.
Not a currently on sale option like the one above, but I reread three of Melissa F. Olson’s series a month ago (Books 1-3 of her Disrupted Magic (4 book series) were on sale for $1.99 each all last month, but they’re also on Kindle Unlimited, as are most of her books). I think I like the Boundary Magic (5 book series) best. These are all placed in the same world, but focus on different characters, so you can start with different series. Scarlett Bernard (3 book series) focuses on the same character as in the Disrupted Magic series. There are a few additional short novel collections that fill in bits of the chronology. These are all very re-readable, and I like these books (more than your current read by Lana Pecherczyk, which is fine). I should probably ask if someone has the 4th book in the Disrupted Magic series to lend, because Born Magic: The Diary of Scarlett Bernard (Disrupted Magic Book 4) describes her new baby (we thought that “nulls” could not have children, but it turns out that they can with other nulls), and this is her experience. (Not on KU)
I finished Jennifer Ashley's Death at the Crystal Palace, book 5 of her "Below Stairs " mystery series. Another interesting mystery here, plus we see the romance between Kat and Daniel becoming at bit more physical. These are two intelligent and likeable characters. There are also good secondary characters. I keep thinking I should check out her Captain Lacey mysteries because I'm sure they are good. I would definitely start at the beginning of these series if you are interested.

I'm almost finished with 'Fast Girls: A Novel of the 1936 Women's Olympic Team' by Elise Hooper. A great book makes me want to read 'The Other Alcott also by Elise Hooper.

I'm currently reading Nora Roberts' latest: Legacy First time I'm rereading it since it came out & I inhaled it. Not sure that it will be come one of my top favs in the NR line; begin to wonder at times; do the women ever make a mistake or do they just continue to handle everything perfectly? Honestly, I get a little depressed some days by how well they handle everything; workloads, family, etc. Shoot, I can't even keep the house that clean, even before all the health fun! Them; the house is always clean, even those that don't have housekeeping help! Maybe a little too much fantasy for me?
Just finished reading The Lady Who Lived Again by Thomasine Rappold which is classified as a supernatural historical romance. Overall I was disappointed, I just didn't feel the romance between the two main characters. Both the hero and heroine were strong minded individuals who I did like but not love. I would have preferred if the sexual side of the relationship took longer to develop. Will read the next in the series simply because I have already purchased them. A 3/5.
I finished Emily Windsor's new book, The Rake of Hearts book 2 of "A Lady to Suit" series, and liked it a lot. I've liked all the Windsor books I've read so far. The heroine Hebe (named for the daughter of Hera), is a widow who hasn't recovered from her disastrous marriage. The hero is the brother of Casper, the hero of book 1, Ernest, a great hero IMO. She paints horses and he is starting a horse breeding business and has a reputation as a rake. So there you are-romance.
I'm truly book hungover. Den of Vipers was good - very good and I couldnt put it down. But the Mindf*ck Series...... that's truly did a nummer on my brain and will be with me for a long time!
