I just started Look the Part by Jewel E. Ann I am enjoying it. The Hero has a son who has Asperger's and the son is a hoot.
A few notes to take in if any one else is interested in reading, Hero was an alcoholic and in a car accident loses his wife. The Heroine is divorced and seems her ex may also have some sort of sad story behind him and that story might also be triggering to some since she's making comments of how human touch is important and her ignoring her ex's calls and saying comments like I gave him my all and he threw my things out, I don't know what that is yet so I might add it in later if I remember.
If my first book of 2021 is this good to me, it gives me so much hope for the future reads.
UPDATE: It still a good read but towards the middle it becomes a bit more serious dealing with the past and their traumas, they have to work hard to get their happy ending. I also want readers to know there are a few things that happen that may not be for everyone, Heroine's dad suffers a stroke. I also want to point out that the assistant to the Hero is also a funny character, they have good banter.

This sounds good and with your recommendation have added it to my KU selections. I too am desperate for better reads than last year. I started reading Strange Love by Anne Aguirre, my first read for the year and have been cackling away, it is a very funny read and not your typical alien romance book. I am not into insectoid looking aliens but this guy and the heroine have won my heart. Hope it continues to be a good read.

I laugh because I enjoyed that book as well and it's definitely not something I thought I would enjoy at all. The dog was my fave character, his fatherhood in particular. I hope you enjoy this one too!
Last night, I started rereading The Mystic Series by B.C. Burgess. It has been so long since I read the first books, they are almost like reading something new.
Kareni - Thanks for the link, will check it out. The book is also available on KU where I noticed that the second book was out soon. I then realised I still hadn't read the first. I think when I read the description of the alien I thought it probably wasnt for me and then I forgot about it. Author has a great way with words, simple but funny. And yes, Snaps is also a pure delight. Has been a perfect read for a drizzly saturday afternoon.
I finished reading the Donna Fletcher book. It was good. I'll probably end up keeping it. Next I reread One Sinful Night by Kaitlin O'Riley. Today I read latest release by Eva Leigh Would I Lie to the Duke. It wasn't a bad book, but it's not something I would want read it again. So, I'm not going to keep it. Her books have been very hit or miss for me, mostly misses. I've only kept two of the books I read from her. But this will be the last time I get anything from her. After reading a dud I want to reread something I know I like. I'm rereading Absolute Pleasure by Cheryl Holt.
Josie, I've read some Donna Fletcher & enjoyed them, but it's been a while! I need to go hit her again--runs in my mind, great Highlanders! Thanks for reminding me & I'm glad you enjoyed the book! Amazon say's I own it but I don't think I've read it yet! Just read the description in Amazon of the Eva Leigh book; that one's a real stretch! She's a farm girl masquerading as a high society Lady to attract investors...and it sounds like he's interested in both investing and in her but the investing can destroy him? What kind of investing is this? I agree, her stories have been pretty hit & miss for me as well. I've got quite a few waiting for me to open them but more interesting ones (or rereads) have gotten in the way many times!

You're welcome kc! I've been wary of trying new authors lately. I'm glad that it didn't disappoint. I met Eva Leigh in 2019 at the RWA book signing in NYC. She told me that the books were inspired by 80s movies. I thought the idea really interesting. I think the first book, My Fake Rake, was based on the movie Just One of the Guys. This latest book seems to be something like Trading Places. The ideas of the stories sound better than the actual execution. The only books that I kept from her are Temptations of a Wallflower and Dare to Love a Duke.
Just finished reading Project Adapt by Jade Waltz a reverse harem SF romance. Cant really say I loved it but I did finish it. I found the heroine annoying, seemed to be always weeping, sobbing or tearing up. She was pregnant and that might explain some of her emotions but as a reader it started to get on my nerves. Did like all the other characters, her nestmates were interesting. This is the first book of the series, didnt end on a cliffhanger but story not finished yet, not sure if I will continue with the series.
