I started a new series to me, I've been meaning to start this sooner but things just kept getting ahead of it. Lifeblood I heard its good from trusted friends, so I will get to it now that October is hours away now.
I finished GL Robinson's Beatrix, the Baron and his Dog, a traditional Regency Romance. It's entertaining and lighthearted for the most part with no villains, just two stubborn MC's who you can't help rooting for.
I'm finally getting back to reading romance again. I wanted something easy to get me back into it, so I read the whole Blessings, Georgia series by Sharon Sala. I had read a couple before, but went back to the beginning and read them all in order.
I finished Sarah M. Eden's The Bachelor and the Bride, the 4th book in her Victorian series about the Dread Penny Society. This is not a standalone, IMO. There are lots of characters from the other books that would be confusing unless you have read their stories. And this is a cliffhanger, so be warned. I liked the humor and affection that this group of people shared, and the romance between Barnabas and Gemma that begins as a marriage of convenience. The ending had me reading way too late last night.
This month, I started to reread The Bastion Club by Stephanie Laurens. So far I've reread The Lady Chosen and A Gentleman's Honor. Currently I'm on book 3, A Lady of His Own. It has been a little slow going with rereading this series. I thought I'd be further along the series than I am. But I haven't read the series since the last book came out in 2009! Since it's been so long, I'm taking my time. I don't remember much of the series, just bits and pieces from some books. So it's like I'm reading them for the first time. I may take breaks and read other authors in between books. Stephanie's books are very detail heavy and sometimes I just want a quick read.

A favorite series of mine.

I finished Christi Cauldwell's The Duke Alone which I enjoyed. The duke and Myrtle, the h, are actually both totally alone, except for Horace, the duke's dog. They are neighbors who gradually get to know and care about each other. This is not a steamy story by any means, but I liked the romance. There is a great deal of thinking going on since most of the story has only 2 characters and there is no one else to discuss their feelings with, except Horace. Now I'm reading the new Sheri Cobb Smith's next John Pickett's mystery, In the Family Way. John is his adorable self, Julia is about to give birth, and Kit is lovable also. John learns more about himself and his family in this story and the mystery is interesting. Suits me fine.
ETA I would recommend reading the series in order, and this book last, although it is one of my favorites, having just finished it. It sounds like the end of the series, although, who knows?
I’m listening to a Regency on YouTube, really good so far…
One Night in London by Caroline Linden (9/11) [ Truth About the Duke - 1 ] — Audible: Gildart Jackson
A bargain that was all business ...and pure passion.
Neither wealth nor beauty will help Lady Francesca Gordon win custody of her young niece Georgina, saving the girl from a cruel stepmother; she needs London's top solicitor for that. But when Edward de Lacey, son of the powerful Duke of Durham, hires away the one man who can do the job, Francesca decides Edward himself must champion her case ... if only she can melt the dashing lord's stony heart.
Edward has reason to be guarded, though. London's tabloids have just exposed a secret that could ruin his entire family. When Francesca offers a unique chance to undo the damage, Edward is forced to agree to a partnership... and now, each moment together feeds the flames of his scandalous longing for the passionate widow. But when Georgina disappears, fate will test them both ... and leave their love hanging in the balance.
Older KA books are great, the newer stuff is not the same for me.
I am now reading a few books on KU, one of them being the new book by Susie Tate, I just finished it today actually. Love her formula, and if you're looking for an author who has the opposites attract thing down, she's it. I am also reading a Sophie Lark one, The Bully, which is my 3rd re-read this year so this could be my #1 book of the year . I also borrowed Katee Robert's The Demons Bargain.

kareni , I would be glad to loan this, but I read somewhere that Amazon is ending the lending function for Kindle books. When I looked at this book's info, it doesn't say it is lendable. No listing for yes or no as it used to have for lending each book. Sounds like they have started this new policy. Maybe there is different way it can be done that I don't know about. I sometimes worry about all the Kindle books I have being under Amazon's control.

yes, sadly this is true. I though it would be temporary, but it's been about 2 months since this might have happened, I wasn't lending books and when I tried to lend my sister in law one of my books and looking for the lending feature it was not there... I had to go and look if it was just that kindle since I had been having issues with that one, but the oasis and the paperwhite were the same way. It was a great feature, if I bought a series my sister, friends and cousins could borrow from me and vice versa and now we can't do that any more. I guess they saw it as a loss. Which is backwards thinking in my opinion, if I liked a series or book I would buy it for myself, physical or e-book file.
