It's a Harlequin/ M&B oldie.
Heroine and hero have a past. I believe, when younger, she fancied him and made a move on him but was turned down because of her young age.
Humiliated, she left her hometown. Years later, she decides to come back home.
Hero & heroine clash from the moment they meet again but things escalate when he overhears a phone call and accuses h of being her boss' mistress. He believes that the super expensive fur she's wearing is a gift from her boss/lover (it was gifted to her by her boss' wife and her very good friend).
There also is this very rich, old lady who lives in neighborhood who wants hero to marry her niece (OW).
Heroine helps to organize a charity event/ball in this old lady's mansion or something.
It's not Bought with his Name by Penny Jordan (blurb sounds very similar to the book I'm after).
