One of my all time favorite romances is Annie's Song by Catherine Anderson. Unfortunately, it is only available in paperback. I ordered a used copy from Better World Books and it was well worth it.
The h was thought to be stupid and basically treated not much better than a pet by her family. She is raped, and the brother of one of her rapists marries her because she is pregnant and he is trying to do the right thing. He figures out that she is not dumb but deaf and begins to teach her things. It's a great, well built story with lots of funny moments as well as rip-your-heart-out scenes.
I got one of my favorite older books off of there to read. Silver Love by Hayton Monteith. Surprisingly I didn't like it as much as when I first read it in the 80's.
Something just don't translate anymore but I still enjoyed it. I was sad when I had to return it. I wish they would re-publish some of the older books. It would be nice to have in digital. I think my paper copy is in the shed out back somewhere.

Oh yeah, me too - I loved Annie's Song. Also really loved Summer Breeze (the one about the agoraphobic and neighbour rancher), Keegan's Lady (rancher marrying the former gunslinger), My Sunshine (the former environmental engineer with a TBI and the local vet) & Seventh Heaven (the children's author who broke up with her college boyfriend after a revenge attack against him made her the target and him returning after a decade and finding out about it).... amonst others. Can you tell I've read heaps of her books?
I loved Catherine Anderson's Cherish and her earlier Western books. Because of this thread I went back and looked at some of my older books and realized the Westerns that I really liked were both Catherine Anderson and Dorothy Garlock. I think I've always confused their earlier books.
I haven't read any recent Catherine Anderson after disliking Always in My Heart. I just thought it strange for the parents to get back together while searching for their sons. I think I'd be too emotional to even think about my ex. Maybe it's time to give her another shot since I can't find many new authors that I like.
