1) The Wife Test. Middle Ages France, then England. Had sex. 4 stars.
France's Duke of Avalon legally adopted 4 Brides of Virtue & sent them to England's
King Edmund, instead of gold he owed. Chloe took the place of her religious sister
escort on the journey.
Sir Hugh grew up in a monastery & Chloe a convent, but neither professed vows.
Hugh harped on propriety and had a low opinion of women. Hugh & his men escorted
Chloe etc to the King. These travelers encountered hardships. Upon arrival, King
Edmund told the H & h to create/ oversee a "wife test." The conclusion: 5 couples
wed: 3 happy & the other 2 couples: not so much.
Hugh rescued Chloe & he questioned some teachings by the monks. The story had
romance, humor, adventure. Nothing compared to a near monk finding true love &
the wonders of love-making.
2) The Husband Test (Brides of Virtue #2). Middle Ages France and England. Had sex. 4 stars.
This had romance, sex and humor. Peril, an earl & Eloise a novice nun ( no professed final vows yet.) His estate was
a mess his crops and animals didn't thrive & children and farm animals went missing. Was he a poor mgr? cursed?
a victim of sabotage? He requested a "bride of virtue" from the Convent Brides of Virtue. Eloise knew estate mgt,
animal husbandry, bee-keeping etc. She helped him. Then he learned of the bride chosen for him.
This had snappy dialogue & a clash of the sexes. Hugh wanted a biddable wife until he met high-spirited Eloise.
