A re-read. Took place in London 1891. Gave this very sexy read 3 stars.
I first read this in 2011. I thought the hero Fitz (a duke) a charming manipulator. This
time I saw him as a manipulative schemer. He was intrigued by striking, voluptuous,
widowed, auburn haired beauty Rosiland who had a quick mind. Even after they had
sex, he felt 'raging lust.' But he couldn't pass on sex w/ his former mistress, another
time w/ a pd whore.
Fitz had obsessions w/ business & sex. He offered Rosa almost 7x the worth of her
bookstore (3k pounds). Her store was situated in the way of his business plan.
Fitz manipulated others because he could. Rosa told him "I'm not for sale" after he bought
her jewelry. She returned it. Someone dug up dirt on Rosa, on his behalf. Fitz had a plan
on the "backburner." His mother Julia was a joy & she gave her son reality checks.
I had mixed feelings about his grovel, but if you read this, please decide for yourself.
