Took place in Devonshire 1867, going forward. Had minimal sex scenes.
Gave this 2 of 5 stars. Both MCs acted immature. This story had potential,
but my interest waned.
This required too much suspension of disbelief.
The harbor master, Isaac, had a wife and 2 pretty daughters Rebecca (the h) & Sarah.
Father invited widowed 30 YO Captain Adam Bradley to dinner. Unearthly beauty Becky
was rude to him. He thought her smart and witty. A week or so later Capt. asked to
court Becky but Isaac said her heart was elsewhere. Becky loved Tom, a cooper, but
had no permission to date him. B & T snuck out to see each other. Tom died of typhoid
fever.
Becky and Adam wed, but she lied to him. Adam was often at sea. This had way too
much drama for me. And arguments galore. Becky chastised Adam even when he was
kind. Huh? Her ugly, spoiled personality minimized her beauty. Adam had an injury at
sea. Once home the MD saw him. He needed a 2nd opinion & a new doctor was avail.
But no 2nd opinion was sought.
The antagonist. The 'good guys' needed to call the magistrate ASAP on this fool. IMO
the story went steadily downhill once the baddie was introduced.
