I can't help but feel this must be a joke of some kind Linda Howard Against the Rules; $9.99 for a reissue of a book from 1983? It's not even the first time available as an ebook. I bought a copy in 2016.
Well, it matches the description for that book & yes, I have that 2016 ebk as well. Didn't age that well, but it is 40 yrs old & things have changed a bit since it was written. Not one of my favs from LH (wasn't back then either) but it is LH. I see it's a publisher I don't recognize: Open Road Media Romance. Midnight Rainbow (Rescues--Kell Sabin series #1) is also listed as 9.99, same pub & 8/22/23 pub date on the Against the Rules page--the rest of the Kell Sabin series are all listed as Avon Impulse. Diamond Bay & White Lies (top fav for me!) are both at 4.99 but Heartbreaker is 9.99 for the ebk but still Avon Impulse.
I'd say someone has bought redistribution rights to LH's older titles & we'll see how it goes... Like you, I bought these in ebk form already & sure glad I did. Will be interesting to see if they rerelease the rest of the series with the price increase. Ah well, they're trying to keep us on our toes, I guess---but my toes sure do hurt!

Open Road seems to exclusively publish reissues of old titles. I know e-book prices are rising, but that's pretty steep for a book that I think was originally a Harlequin or Silhouette title. Seems pretty steep when a new one runs about five bucks.

You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.

When I see an older book that they're asking that much for in the Kindle version I always check the price of a used paper book. No way am I paying that much for book that's been out that long. I can always donate the paper book when done.
Ooff that's a lot for an e book. nope. I pay no more than 5 to 6 dollars for mines. of course that depends on the author, or if I can sneak the physical copy on an amazon delivery. no way do I want to spend that much for an e book alone.
