Thanks, Jenny. I can't think of anything at this time but let's add to this when we come across something that fits. Does anyone else have a book to add here?
I didn't follow the original betrayal thread so I have a question -was the original worst betrayal thread referencing the author betraying the reader, or was it in reference to the H betraying the h? Does it have only to do with infidelity or does any betrayal count? Anyone know?

I'm going to put this post here but if I need to move it I can.
****some spoilers ahead******
I finished Wicked Mafia Prince: Dangerous Royals #2 yesterday and I think a H trying to kill the h is a betrayal. Yeah, you read that right, the H tried to kil, the h! She was supposedly the love of his life. His soul mate and yet when it appeared she betrayed his "gang" he didn't allow her to explain herself (even though she begged him). Instead, he THREW HER OFF A CLIFF!! He's been in hell ever since (poor guy!) because he learned after that she hadn't been a traitor. The book starts 2 years after he did this and he's convinced the love of his life is alive. He desperately wants her back. When he finally finds her, she has amnesia because apparently being thrown off a cliff and landing in a tree can injure you. I loved this part of the book and was anxiously looking forward to her memory returning and the h making the H suffer. Yet when her memory returned there wasn't a grovel! I was so ticked off! The book could've been a 5 star book but without the grovel I knocked it down to 3 stars. It needed a grovel.

First, let me be upfront about this, I HATED everything about this book. When I say "H" you can read that as "supposed Hero".
1) The "H" has every intention of giving the h over to some horrible crime lord, in the hopes that he will then be able to catch an even worse crime lord. He knows she'll be raped, tortured and murdered. Even after he falls in "love" with her, he still plans to do this, but now he has her consent to use her like that. REALLY?!?! Then he tells her he's changed his mind but drugs her and does it anyway. Of course he has a grand plan so she won't be hurt, but then he screws up and she's taken anyway.
2) Maya Banks took the worst badass from all her books and turned him into a whiny, crybaby, pussy. After all the trauma she's been through the h has to go after the "H" because he's busy feeling sorry for himself.
So not only did the "H" betray the h, I feel like the author betrayed her readers with this one. What a steaming pile!
She has done this kind of thing before too - where she builds up a character in a series, so much so that we expect that book to be the best but it is a total let down .... she did this thing in her erotica - sweet series ...

Samantha K - The original thread was one of my fave stomping grounds ("stomp" often being the operative word! Ha) so, for what it's worth, I too recall that the OP was referring to the H's betrayal of the h. Naturally it included infidelity, but was not limited to it. Other egregious acts e.g. H throwing a h he supposedly loved off a cliff definitely qualified, as does the intent to hand h over to a crime lord to be raped and murdered.
I recall another early Worst Betrayal rec that generated a lot of discussion and outrage but for the life of me can't recall the title. I'll look through my archived books for it; meanwhile:
**Spoilers** Manwhore H has a s-i-l (big bro's wife) whose parents die in an accident leaving the younger daughter, around 9 yo, orphaned. She comes to live w/her big sister and hubby on hubby's & H's family ranch, and develops insta-love for the H. He's around 10 yrs older than her and she asks him to wait for her to grow up so she can marry him. He's flattered and promises he'll wait and marry her one day as long as she stays chaste as he'll only marry a virgin. She vows to do so and does, while he, of course, steps up his manwhoring as he matures into manhood, even insensitively bringing gf's & ONS back to the ranch, causing her heartache. Fast fwd to h as 18 yo. She's gorgeous, charismatic, graduating HS w/honors and heading to college. She's written as outspoken and notoriously strong-willed, so after H rejects her because she's still too young IIRC, she makes her first attempt to move on and brings home a bf. Of course, H goes Neanderthal on her. More angst, a few more clashes, they finally get on the same page and he declares his feelings for her. One night at her new apt they have intense foreplay, she tries to seduce him, but the whole virgin clause kicks in and he insists on waiting till they're married. He leaves and a little while later she steps out to throw out the trash...only to find him having full-on sex with her bff on the hood of his parked truck. She tells him it's over and he'll NEVER have her virginity. H's not all that apologetic, all things considered; he's more focused on chest-beating...reminding her she's HIS and will NEVER be with anyone else. She's determined to hurt him back by giving his "prize" away. He proceeds to plot and intervenes in the most wall-bangingly despicable way. The train wreck continues from there to a dubious HEA. Some readers felt H eventually gave good grovel but that was definitely a point of contention. Most, like myself, found him irredeemable.
