Has anyone ever had a problem with an Amazon credit promotional?
It's been some time since I have seen notification for delaying prime shipping in checkout! My promotional credits and rewards are applied properly. I've been an Amazon customer since 1995 and rarely have had a problem. I've always used my desktop computer for purchases and not my cell, Kindle or iPad. Could this make a difference. Who knows???

I use my laptop and have had this problem maybe 2 previous times, it's been awhile but it has happened. I still have the $2.25 credit which doesn't expire until June. It will be interesting to see when I buy another ebook if they apply it or if I'll have to go through the hoops to contact them. After this, no more.
Am streaming TV show Hill Street Blues, on Amazon Prime. About to start season 6 of 7. This show was great, IMO. It had some continuity issues RE the ages of characters. One cop, Bobby, (dreamy Michael Warren!) owed the IRS each week, more $ than he made each week! He was not evicted, nor was he short on food or cash. A miracle! Maybe Bob coasted on his good looks?
Hill Street Blues. Just finished the last season. Sid the snitch got on my last nerve. Lucy underestimated a man till they went on a date. A Lt. punched the Chief, with cause. The Chief valued ego and good PR above all else. Fellow cops Gina & Patrick dated, but she treated it like sex only. About time a man was on the receiving end of this attitude.

What are some locations that you all hate reading about? Settings or backstory wise?
I realized Today that I actually do not care for romance stories in NYC. I dont Care for the city IRL, the sounds and smells are just awful to me personally and lately I’ve found that invading my mind when I’m reading stories.
On the other hand, I love made up cities and countries.
I've never been to NYC so it really doesn't bother me reading about it--I laugh at times when reading the In Death series as Eve rants about the stuff flying overhead with the ads, plus her lack of understanding about the sales, esp with stuff she has little use for. Some places, like London, Paris, & NYC I've gotten maps for because I'll be reading along & they're talking about walking from here to there, etc such as Hyde Park, or watching the Queen's funeral, etc & looking at where they were actually going--how close are all these places, etc.
I don't think many of the places have ever bothered me; some authors, such as Elizabeth Lowell, described them so beautifully that I could see them but also has me wanting to go see them as well. Her one set in Hawaii, she mentioned shades of green--watching Hawaii 5-0 (modern version) the other day; I knew what she meant! I can see, tho', that made-up cities, etc would be easy to work with as well--you can make them look like you want & reality doesn't have a chance to bite.
The only location that bothers me is New Orleans. I've traveled a lot and never had any desire to visit. Hard to explain, almost a gut feeling like not liking clowns. Maybe too many crime movies during Mardi Gras.

I agree with NYC except in the In Death series. I also don't care for stories in the South American jungles or in the Middle East. I've never been to NYC either and with the way things are now have no plans. As I've aged I've discovered I prefer stories set in small towns, country or seaside.

New Jersey for me, it's odd nothing against the state but there's parts that look desolate and gray. Others too wooded and separate from neighbors. I know there are crowded cities in the state but for some reason whenever a book is focused on areas of Jersey (it's been mostly true crime and mafia romance on my end, so there's that influence) it's always on the dumping ground of a body. Unreasonable on my end since they have amazing areas (according to my husband) but this is also coming from me who adores New Zealand, Netherlands, and Paranormal Hub Alaska and has never been, lol!

There are places that at one time I wanted to visit but no more. NYC, Chicago, New Orleans, Portland and sadly SF. I lived about 15 miles from SF for most of my life and my father worked in the business section for many years. We use to go to "the city" quite often, had several senior (high school) events there and always took family and friends from out of state for a tour. No more. Not only is it dangerous but it's become dirty. I saw Yul Brynner in the King and I, Lauren Bacall in Woman of the Year, the Beatles at the Cow Palace, the Monkees and so many more. Nope, no more.

I don't care for stories set in Las Vegas. So many authors concentrate solely on the casinos and strip clubs, like those are the only buildings that exist there. LV as a location is almost a bad cliche.

Unfortunately NJ has been called "The armpit of the United States. I grew up going to Atlantic City every summer and also have been to Wildewood another beach resort, which back when attracted French Canadians so all signs had both languages. Not allowed to vacation in Ocean City, Maryland until the 1970s.
Very sad about SF. My brother lives in Monterey and said he will never go to SF again. I was fortunate to go to SF in the early 1990s and trying now to remember the way it was.
Also I spent many yrs traveling to NY for entertainment (mostly Broadway shows) and now will never go there again as it deteriorates.
Never been to LV and no desire to go.
