Banana Boat, Neeta, and 9 more like this

We all get really into a series and start to love them and look forward to the next. But what do you do when the next promised book doesn't come out? You get annoyed, of course
I figured I'd start a list of authors that haven't come through. This first author is probably the most talked about, Lisa Valdez. She has promised for years that Primrose's book will be out. But there's been absolutely no indication of when that, if ever, is going to happen.
Another author is Maya Banks. When, oh when, is she going to finish her Montgomery and Armstrong series? I understand that she's been ill, but she's managed to release more KGI books and her Slow Burn Series. What I don't get is that there was a title, release date and cover for the third book. Then, when the release day came, no book. I believe it was in September '14. There was a post on her FB saying that the release date has been pushed back indefinitely. Well, if the book had been written already, then the date shouldn't have been pushed back this much. So I don't think she finished it in time.
Next is Lorraine Heath. She wrote a series called Rogues and Roses. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but only two books came out. When questioned about it, IIRC, she said that the H and h haven't told her yet what their story should be. I don't know how she has no ideas since she's written 6 series' since then.
Finally is Lila DiPasqua. She has a series called Fiery Tales. She takes fairy tales and puts an erotic twist to them. I've literally been waiting since 2014 for a book to be released. It sort of had a cliffhanger ending, but not with the couple of the book. If you've read the book, A Midnight Dance, then you'll know what I'm talking about. She has a cover, synopsis and an excerpt. Since 2014, she puts on her site release months. Yet, when that appointed time arrives, no book. Then another release appears and once again, nothing. The latest release month was October 2017. And guess what? No book. I know she was in the process of getting the rights back to her books. She did that and rereleased her books as an indie author. She said once the last book was rereleased, then Three Reckless Wishes would be released. That was in February. All the books are novellas, with the exception of three, A Midnight Dance, Undone and Three Reckless Wishes.
In the case of Maya and Lorraine, why start a series and not finish it? It really frustrates me. I'd rather them not release any part of the series until all the books are completed. Or at least know what they are going to be about.
In the case of Lila DiPasqua, I thought being an indie author meant books would come out faster. Especially since all her novellas were already written. They probably just had to be tweaked a bit. Another indie author I read, Jess Michaels, went indie in 2015. She has written TWENTY full length books since then. TWENTY. That's a lot. She did a FB live yesterday and said it takes her about 5-6 weeks to write a book. Some authors take 5-6 months to write a book. She did say it's her full-time job and her husband doesn't work either. She supports them both. So, it's either write, or have no money. I wish more authors were like that.
Sorry for the long rant. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
