I wrote a brief list of authors who made good comments ( IE S. O'Connell said negative feedback from readers was helpful) & those who made snarky comments from Amazon's original thread in May 2012. Didn't keep the actual comments.
Alleged snarkiness folks were: Dennis Rodgers & Karen Magill. Comments along the lines of : readers don't know how hard it was to write a book. Poster/ reader Anna Karenenna always had interesting comments on the original thread.
A few months ago I reviewed a book on Goodreads that I found very frustrating. I won't go in to detail in case the author is on this forum but she reported me to the administrators at Goodreads and I had to remove the review. Now if I have negative comments it is in the Notes section only. Needless to say I won't ever purchase a book that she writes.
There is also the case of Limecello that I got to know years ago on the Romantic Times forum through Holly. tartsweet.com/ A Little Bit Tart, a Little Bit Sweet. She posted this on her website about an author that seems a little ethically challenged.
And … then there’s the other also awkward part. You might remember last time (and unfortunately I’m actually still recovering from it…) … there was also a GFM for me. That was done by Ashley March/Elise Rome. She wanted to help me out and suggested staring a campaign for me, and asking if I’d be ok with it. I was touched, and thanked her. Well … things didn’t go quite as expected and she kept most of the funds for over a year. She has started sending some more of the money as of this year, which I really appreciate.
I’m not actually trying to shame her – I really simply want to explain what happened last time – why I’m asking for “yet more money” and such. Although to be honest all of that was gone/already spent on medical things before it would’ve even ever gotten to me. If that makes sense. Everything is a muddle.
