I need help in finding the name of a book I have been looking forever for. It is historical and written within the last 10 years I think.
What I remember is young aristocratic woman in London is attending a party or wedding breakfast for a relative. She decides to go up stairs to her room. While going up the stairs the front door is opened and a man that was once a neighbor and friend walks in and kidnappes her.
Sorry that is all I remember, any help with name of book is appreciated.
Thank you.

Does he mean to kidnap her or is she mistaken for someone else. Seems I've read a couple of books with this happenstance, but will have to think on this a bit. Oh bother...now its gonna be driving me nuts.
One along this theme I can remember is So Worthy My Love by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss although I think in that one she is taken by mistake. She goes up the stairs and is taken from her cousin's room by his henchmen. He doesn't find out until later that they took the wrong girl. The cousin was his former fiancee before her father stole his house and title. I loved this book, both characters were fun.
I'll keep pondering on the other couple I've read. It always drives me batty when I can't remember titles and authors of books I know I've enjoyed.

Had to do a re-read after I remembered this book. And yeah she was taken on purpose, but they meant to get her cousin. Our hero was totally surprised to find our feisty heroine instead of her beautiful gentle cousin who was his former fiancee. He meant to nab his love before her wedding vows to another man could be consummated. By the time he realizes his mistake it's too late to take her back due to frozen rivers.
Why is it, the more books I read the taller my tbr stack gets?
The description of the kidnapping is totally different to that in "Love Only Once", as are the circumstances leading up to the kidnapping. "Love Only Once" was originally released in 1986.
