Female drummer but different from earlier thread -- in this one, she's a recovering alcoholic who us

In this book I'm thinking of, she's now in Michigan or Wisconsin, somewhere around there.  She plays drums in a bar band and tries to stay out of the spotlight.  When she was in the popular band, she had an affair with another member, who was married and had a child.  She loved the child but when her lover died (of an overdose, maybe?) then she lost contact with the child.  The lover's brother now has the child.

She does woodworking and lives in a small house and she's basically punishing herself because she feels guilty about being an alcoholic and her part in her ex-lover's death. 

I can't remember why the dead lover's brother shows up but he does and he despises her (but is attracted to her too).  She desperately wants to spend time with the little boy but the brother is resistant.  I remember at one point she puts a bottle of vodka on the table and is just staring at it, which upsets the brother when he sees it.

Any ideas?  I read it a few years ago but don't know how old it is.  TIA
