I am looking for a book that I learned about from reading either a description in the back of the book or on the flap of cover. Problem is I can't remember name or author of either book. (The librarian must have thought I was a bit odd as I was pulling books, flipping to back and replacing on shelf only to repeat -- did this for several shelves before I gave up.)
Anyway, the book was a mystery. Heroine was driving through desert setting. And then came the "Click, click, click" of a camera. Can't remember if heroine is photographer or if it was someone taking her picture. Think i was reading a Jude Deveraux, Sandra Brown or an Elizabeth Lowell at the time, but then again maybe not. Any way it was the description of her heading into the desert and the "Click, click, click" that first grabbed my attention. Thanks for any help.

Why is it, the more books I read the taller my tbr stack gets?
It sounds vaguely familiar. It couldn't be a JAK could it?
(Huge shrug) Don't have a clue. It was a 'look for this book' type thing either at the end of or on the paper cover of a hardback book. I know it's a mystery type book, maybe murder or kidnapping or stalking. Author was definitely a well know one with other books, not an obscure one one-off writer.

newenglandlady that's not the one I'm looking for, although it was a really good book. Didn't remember the title, but when I clicked on the link I saw that I had purchased and read it back in 2016. I've read a couple of others in that series and am pretty sure I liked all the ones I've read. The others are now in my tbr pile. Thanks for bringing this series back to mind.

Has anyone remembered this one yet? I'm pretty sure it was by a fairly well known author. Might have to do the library book flip some more. I could kick myself for returning the original book before writing down title and author of this one.

Ok, I looked through all the books listed on her site and didn't see it there so it wasn't Jayne Ann Krentz. However, I'm pretty sure it was by someone like her ..... a name people recognize, even if they don't read her books.

no it isn't Desert Rain by Elizabeth Lowell. The one I'm looking for sounded like it was a suspense thriller type book. I'm pretty sure she was a photographer of some kind heading into the desert to photograph either a place or a person. Also pretty sure someone was watching her or stalking her. I can't remember anything about the hero. Mostly I remember that stupid "click, click, click". (Note to authors, if you want to really mess with the reader's mind ...)
