Hero blames heroine for child getting hurt

Looking for the name of a book
I don’t have much to go on, all I can remember is heroes son/daughter getting hurt and he blames heroine and sends her away. Afterwards son/daughter ask for her and explains she actually tried/did protect him/her. I almost wanna say she got hurt really bad protecting child but was so concerned about child no one knew she was hurt till later.
ETA: Not positive but I almost wanna say she’s younger or people believe she’s irresponsible and he tells her he knew he shouldn’t trust her with his child, before he send her away.
I thought of something else it may not be child who tells hero she saved him it may be a friend that’s fed up with the way he treated her.
Ok I could be totally mixing up books but I believe hero sends heroine away from hospital after yelling at her and maybe someone says he was too hard on her and he says or thinks she will go home and he will sort it out later.
