Shape Shifter Romance discussion - general chat

I'm starting a new series of shifter romance. I have read one or two of the books before, but now I'm reading them in order.

Shifters Unbound by Jennifer Ashley.

Currently there are 10 full length novels and 11 shorter novellas. There is also a new full length novel due out in April.

Shifters were created long ago by the fae to be their hunters, assassins and pets. The created a feline form, a canine form and an ursine form. But the shifters were fully intelligent and aware, so they refused to belong to the fae.

Now, shifters have been exposed. In the US, they live in compounds and must wear collars that control their violence. The humans think they control them and know everything about them, but they don't. The shifters have accepted the collars for the time being. They were dying out as a race and living in compounds, with no fighting and access to medical care has given them the chance to rebuild their numbers.

There is no mated/fated premise. But the males do attach themselves to a female pretty quickly. Once mated, they mate for life. If one dies, the other will survive but will grieve for years and may never mate again. Super protective, alpha males, of course

secretromancejunkie, I just came across this series by Jennifer Ashley and decided, like you, to read the books in order.  I have the first couple on hold at my local library, so I'm anxious to give them a try.  It's very different from my usual Regency romances!  And why am I looking for even more books to read?

I hope you enjoy them!  I find that I like to vary my reading.  I read a lot of regency, but then I want something different.
