Oh my goodness! I totally agree with you! It was meh for me. I've scratched my head thinking what am I missing. I read it years ago and have considered rereading thinking, "What did I miss?" but can't bring myself to do it - lol.

I'm adding Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. Currently it has 3,526 reviews on Ammy with an average rating of 4.5 stars. I gave it 1 star. I was soooooooo bored when I read it and ticked that I bought it because it was expensive.

I often find my opinion running counter to what seems popular with other readers. I have yet to manage to make it through a Mariana Zapata book. They bore me to tears.

Penny Reid is another. I dnf'd Neanderthal Seeks Human because I couldn't stand the h and the whole book was her POV. It was juvenile and the humor too contrived for my tastes.

Also, maybe I should hide as I say this, Kristen Ashley. I tried 3 of her books and dnf'd all 3. The style drives me nuts, and you will never convince me the H is a genius when he can't even speak in complete sentences. My inner editor got tired of rolling her eyes.

I love Lisa Kleypas but her contemporaries are only MEH for me. All except for Sugar Daddy - Travis Book 1. That book was a complete snooze fest for me. In my review I said it was more chick lit than romance. I'm not dissing chick lit, it just isn't my cuppa. Plus, I rarely enjoy first person. Yet, 8/10 people that reviewed it gave it 4 or 5 stars.

I've never read Lisa Kleypas. Mariana Zapata is a slow burn and I have to be the mood for it. I wouldn't bother with her latest Dear Aaron because the premise is so unappealing to me. Sometimes I wonder what in the freak authors are thinking! To write a book where the first half is just letters or emails sounds so boring! I don't care if everyone on earth loved it. I have to like the premise and that's just not for me. I did like her book Under Locke .

Nicole - did you read any of the other Fantasyland Series from KA? Golden Dynasty is a favorite of mine.

Right there with you for Lord of Scoundrels. I have read this book 3 times and for some reason it will not stay in my head. I forget it within minutes and am always surprised when someone mentions a scene or something from it as I don't remember it at all (which would account for the 3 times reading it. Should have stopped at 1). Another one for me is Mackenzie's Mountain by Linda Howard, I think? I am so bored reading that one so nothing stays in my head. And Linda Howard generally is one of my top favorite authors.

I've had the same problem from time to time. I'm not sure why it does that because I know I copied the link correctly too. When it happens to me, I redo the link and it usually fixes it however I don't always check my links. 😆
