I did a reread of Frog by Mary Calmes last night. I love this book and Webber is such a great character. Maybe a little Mary Sue-ish (is there a male name equivalent?) but he's so sweet in a rough kind of way.
I've heard others talk about this and the library has it (unfortunately only in EPUB but hey, they have it). I've borrowed it and am looking forward to reading it. Thanks for posting!

Gary Stu:-)
Thank you! I knew that and then forgot it again. I miss my mind.

I finished Frog this morning before work and I liked it but it was definitely kind of Gary Stu-ish -- every man, woman, child and pet liked Web without question. However, this kind of story really works for me. Makes me want to find another BA Tortuga novel.....
If you have any recs similar to Frog, I'd be all in!

The only book I have read with a similar type feel is Muscling Tbrough by JL Merrow. Granted, I haven't read a lot off m/m, I read far more m/f, so others might have some recs for you.
One that I did love but was more angsty than those two was Rattlesnake by Kim Fielding. (I can't remember if you have posted about reading her stuff before.) One MC is disabled and a much loved hometown guy. The other is a homeless drifter.

Rattlesnake! Oh my gosh, I loved that book! And Fish Stick Fridays by Rhys Ford (that last name may be wrong). And anything by BA Tortuga. Going right now to look at Muscling Through -- thanks!
ETA: Well, it turns out I already OWN Muscling Through. It must have been on sale or free back in 2015 and I bought it then. This happens so frequently, I seriously should stop buying books and just read what I have. But then I'd stop coming on this forum, I'd stop hearing about new good books, I'd stop getting my book discussion fix, so yeah......never gonna happen. I'll move Muscling Through to the top of the pile and I can start it after I finish Penny Reid's latest. Thanks, agreads!

You can add me to the list of Rattlesnake (the book, not the actual snake) fans. (In fact, I've a whole list of books by Kim Fielding that I really like.)
I’m only a bit past the halfway point but I’m really enjoying Bone to Pick. There’s a few things that I’m wondering about getting resolved but so far it’s a solid story. The author doesn’t have much of a website but I guess this is a book 1 (I didn’t know prior to starting) and I’m not sure if it’ll be a series with the same couple. I like the Hs so I hope they stay the leads.
Anyway, I’m making a rec now cuz it’s on sale right now at Dreamspinner. $4.89 there and $6.99 from Amazon. Sale ends the 23rd. I’ll finish tomorrow sometime and report beck on the ending.
Ended up really liking Bone to Pick. It's more a police procedural with a side of romance. I'm not even sure I'd consider it a HFN--more of a hopeful chance for something more to develop between them. It's not a cliffhanger though I prob wouldn't have read it if I'd known it was the start of a series. Still, I'm glad I picked it up and am anxious to get book 2. I'll even preorder it if it's the same couple and I don't do that very often.
Plan to start Dog Days next but might not get to it until tomorrow. And am prob going to pick up Liar, Liar too.
Couple more things about Bone to Pick... The villain wasn’t obvious and the police/FBI behavior was pretty professional. I’m sure someone in LE might find some errors but it was good for me:) The dog was a good character and their working relationship was cool to read.
Dog Days was good but Bone to Pick was better. Unique shifter premise, good characters, and up until about 60% or so it was going pretty good. I thought the final fight scene went on too long and there were some gaps in the explanations of the action. Also, the ending was very similar to Bone to Pick. Totally different stories obviously but emotionally the Hs are in the same place. Another kinda hopeful/sorta HFN but very open ending. Again, it’s not a cliffhanger but there’s definitely a possibility for a book 2. Not sure if one is planned.
I picked up Lair, Liar but am prob gonna wait a bit to read.
