Sometimes when I read a series, I start to feel a sameness in the stories.
This is why I stopped reading the Nora Roberts trilogies, there was so much repetition. I know this is to refresh the readers memories due to the gap in the release of the books but I typically buy the full series before starting.
Be careful what you wish for, it might just come true.
Speaking of sameness, I've been reading Betty Neels again. Her plots and characters are often interchangeable, but sometimes the formula is what I want. Compared to recent romances, she is really quite dated and not very good. Something about her unique style always draws me back, though. A Betty Neels Christmas

Wow! It's been quite sometime since I last posted. Winter break at school, no homework, time for some good old-fashioned escape reading. A few days ago I finished reading "Cricket on the Hearthstone of Charles Dickens other Christmas novellas. I also just finished "Secret Santa " by Sabrina James. And I'm currently reading "So, This is Christmas" by Tracy Andreen. The last two are sweet, cute YA romance books that are perfect holiday reading. An early Merry Christmas from Molly " foureyedgirl"

Molly, Glad to hear you have a well-deserved break. And now have time to read. I'm reading an anthology "Christmas Kisses: A Regency Holiday" by Cheryl Bolen etc.: total of 10 short stories.
I finished Minera Spencer's The Boxing Baroness which I enjoyed very much. I wasn't sure about a heroine who boxed in her uncle's circus, but Spencer made it work. The story has an honorable, handsome, all-you-could-ask-for duke hero. It made for an interesting romance with unusual secondary characters. Funny, hot, and unexpected. Also, Spencer is an excellent writer who knows her grammar, if you can notice that while reading this entertaining tale.
The real annoyance, even tho' the short stories/novellas are listed as part of the Maximum Security series in Amazon, they're not connected, so you click the series, you get the 4 main books. Thank heavens for Fantastic Fiction's website; helped me track down the rest! Not amazon's fault; more in how the books are listed/information supplied by the publisher or author.
Not sure I'll continue with them at the moment; I've been reading mostly current romantic suspense for a while now & the nasty fellas & sex trafficking in both Kat's & Karen Rose's stories are getting to me. I think I need a historical or two for a while...Maybe a Mary Balogh--altho' they're all rereads...
I bought this book when it was either free or 0.99, on Amazon. I can't remember which was it, and I sort of forgot about it until this week, so now that's what I'm going to read. I think it's an MC romance from Louisiana, and the cover looked interesting to me so I'm on the first chapter, a little lost on what's happening cuz I think they dropped me in the middle of the story, hopefully as I read further it will be clearer.
Update on my reading Bayou Bishops; I am still slightly confused, but then read the word fornicator in the book and I was like... huh?... so I went and looked up the author who is self described as religious, Dom, author and father. I will move on to another book, and read this one slowly because it's not bad but it is confusing at times and the re-reading of pages and paragraphs is not what I am looking for at the moment. I don't know what I want to read next, since I am also reading a true crime book so I need a lighter read, to combat the darker read.

I finished Virgina Heath's new book, Never Rescue a Rogue, which I really enjoyed. I like Heath's writing style and this book had lots of humor and good characters. Both Diana and Giles have issues that seem to make a HEA pretty tough, but they have the support of Diana's family, and Giles has a fantastic butler who helps him out. I really had fun reading it.
I'm on a reading spree with DI Hillary Greene These are cosy British police series with a mature female detective. I think she's a fantastic character, likable, clever and quite real. And as I received KU as a Christmas present, all of these books are KU. Love this gift!
I read Pure Sin by Susan Johnson. I think I've only read one book by her but that was more than 20 yrs ago. And I don't even remember what the book was called. PS was good. There were numerous love scenes, but not too graphic. I would have preferred a little more graphic rather than descriptive. Its not something I'll reread a lot, but something I'll keep on hand if I'm ever in the mood to read it again. Currently I'm reading The Savage by Nicole Jordan. I'm liking it so far. NJ is a favorite author but I'm used to reading her books based in England and not a Western.

Sorry I am just now replying to this. If you are not familiar with this author, he can get very weird very quickly. I love some of his stuff but never recommend him without giving warning. Bayou Bishops is not one of his better series, either.
