Also just finished reading All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata. Another great slow burn by her, it was a well told story with great characters who I will be happy to revisit. Hopefully she will also release this one as an audiobook. A 4.5/5 read for me.
I just finished Jayne Fresina's A Deadly Shade of Night, the 3rd book of her Bespoke series. I would definitely read the books in order. This one has more characters, more mysteries, including the one surrounding Tolly's deceased wife, and a lot more background information than the other books in the series. I find that with Fresina's creative stories, you just need to go along for the ride and know that she will not let you down in the end. There wasn't as much of Tolly and Lucy interacting as I'd like, but what there was was very good.
I just finished C.S Harris' new book, What the Devil Knows. This are some murders in the past and a lot of murders in the present to keep Sebastian St. Cyr busy. This is book 16 and I enjoyed it, but I would have liked to have a little more info on the personal mystery of Sebastian's mother.

I'm reading "From Geek to Goddess" by Cathy Hopkins. I do love my " British Teen Chick Lit." They are times I wish I was a teenager in England or Ireland instead of a teenager in America.

I finished Virginia Heath's The Viscount's Unconventional Lady which I enjoyed. The h is a budding artist who is helping her father, a highly acclaimed artist, with a portrait of the H's family. The H is newly returned to England with a divorce in his past so things aren't looking good for a HEA. I like Heath's writing.
Just finished My Last Duchess (Wildes of Lindow #0.5) by Eloisa James I loved it, 5 star read. The Hero has been widowed and now recently divorced, he has a bunch of children (I think it's like 7 of them) one of which is his ward. He is looking for a new wife and he sees the heroine across a room during a ball, and all he wants is her. Though heroine who is a widow, is attracted to him though she shies away from him, she wants a quiet life for her and her daughter. I absolutely adored the characters and the the children were funny and adorable. I'll read the rest of the series slowly.
I started on Darkhouse (Experiment in Terror #1) by Karina Halle a horror series, with a slow-burn romance between the heroine and hero. So far, not much is happening but there's a sense of creepiness because of the heroines nightmares and possible connection to the dead. I just got to the chapter when the two leading characters meet. Hopefully I will enjoy it. I love a good scary book, or at least one that leaves me looking over my shoulders for a few days.
Finished reading Venomous (Alien Warrior Book 1) by Penelope Fletcher which I thought I had read but found it was still sitting in my to be read collection, got it back in 2018. This book did come highly recommended but with warnings from others so I did know it dealt with some unpleasant issues (rape) and I did find the first 1/3 hard to get through. Parts of the book I enjoyed, others not so much and towards the end I thought it got a bit silly. It's also a reverse harem so not something I always warm to. Did love Venomous and her two other partners but overall not a book I will reread not will I continue with the series. A 3/5.

I just finished Betina Krahn's Hero Wanted which I enjoyed a lot. The story begins with the h and H betrothed, but this romance does not go smoothly. It's a great read, IMO, with lots of action, romance, and interesting characters. Might be this month's favorite book for me.

I started singing Holding out for a Hero (I need a Hero) by Bonnie Tyler (I can't ever remember the actual title) in my head when I read the title. LOL!

I just finished reading Getting Schooled by Christina C. Jones a war vet who is back in school, a grad assistant who enjoys his essays but in real life they clash and buttheads when they meet in person. I enjoyed it, I gave it 4 stars.

Those were generally my thoughts about Venomous. I liked some parts and skimmed others. A little restraint, or maybe constraints, with the development would have made a mediocre book a great book.
