Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope everyone had a great one! My oldest daughter had it at her house again this year, everything was done well and delicious. 😊🍗🍷
Hi, Noelle, I will be tomorrow night; I'll head for Krogers & along with regular groceries, hit the gift card kiosk. Any more, that's the main part of my gift-giving! Is easier to wrap!!! How about you? Started on that shopping yet? And how is your husband doing?
kc. I think whoever came up with the idea for gift cards is an absolute genius. I love both giving and getting them. They're the perfect solution for that one problem person on your gift list who's nearly impossible to buy for.

Hi Noelle, To be honest with you I haven't even started my shopping. Because everyone I buy for is an adult I do the gift card, usually Amazon, thing. I may do a few small gifts but the bulk is gift cards. I love gift cards! My husband loves the Sees sugar free milk chocolate candy bars so I'll get him a couple of packages asa stocking stuffer. How about you? If I remember you have 3 small grandchildren to buy for. That would be fun!
I've started my shopping but we are only buying gifts for the boys this year and those will only be a few gifts a peice. We usually go all out and buy gifts for everyone, friends and family. I love to but gifts for people, something that In think that person would really love. I also like to do a gag gift sometimes. Lol One year I bought all the men in the family/friends group really nice knives (a little bigger than the average pocket knive) so I bought these tiny knives made out of small bullets to give them first. I wrapped them and harder them all out and watched them talk about how nice or cool they were. These guys were just being nice because they were so tiny that they looked like something to clean your finger nails with. Lol Then I have them the real gift. We all had a good laugh. But all of this gift giving usually got me in major financial trouble , charging thousands each year and not being able to pay it all off. I'm working hard on putting those charging habits behind me now that I have all the credit cards paid off and with the medical bills from the cancer and financial crisis of Rob being off of work for so long, the money for a blow out Christmas just isn't there. Everyone understood of course, we told them a few months ago so that no one would spend anything on us either. And really, I need to learn how to live within my means, not easy for me but a lot less stressful. Hahaha
In the book front I'm reading Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare and I'm really liking it so far.
A few weeks ago I decided to move most of my bookcases out of my room and into the guestroom. It gave me more room in my bedroom, which is a large room but I have sectioned off about a third of it for my dogs. They have exercise pens in there where they have a safe place to stay but also be able to move around when the weather is bad but where they are also away from the Daycare. That plus 5 bookcases was making a large master bedroom feel cramped, plus my tbr cases were behind one of the exercise pens and hard to get to. So we moved them to the guest room. My husband helped and this was the very first time he really got to see how many books I have. Should have seen his face when he realized that 3 of the cases we moved were full of books I haven't read yet!! It was comical!! Lmao!

Its so hard at Christmas to live within a budget. I find myself wanting to buy all of the fun things I'd never buy during the year. Yesterday I ordered some Moose Munch, I love Moose Munch!! I happen to need it like a hole in the head. I get tons of catalogs, which I don't want, but enjoy looking at. Sundance is one of my favorites. How is Rob doing? Eating better? When my godchild was little I'd get him tons of books as gifts and then we'd sit and read for hours. No computers back then. I was thinking about Kellers (McHenry Village) last night. Did you ever go there at Christmas time? It was expensive but fun to wander through. I'd wander through at Christmas time just to look at the decorations. Have you heard from KG or RtR? I miss their posts.
I like to have a little present along with the gift cards, like earrings for my SIL, etc, but mostly what I hear from folks: what do you want for Christmas?...Amazon or restaurant or dept. store gift cards... I admit gift cards do make it easy, but sure makes for shorter time to open all the presents! I guess that can be a good thing. Toys for the kids were a lot more fun(as we played with them afterwards...)
