I finished Hammer's Fall. It was a 3 star read for me, for one main reason - the massive info dump that was the first chapter. Within the first few paragraphs, the h whispers "Excuse me", and then we get the entire life history of the H before he ever turns around to acknowledge her. It was an unfortunate amateur author mistake, and the rest of the book would have been so much more interesting had all of that backstory been scattered throughout the book. I mean, there was nothing left to learn about him, and we never learn half as much about the h. It was an oddly unbalanced character sketch that, for me, the actual storyline never compensated for. It wasn't a particularly bad book, but a few changes in that first chapter could have made all the difference in it being a really good book.
I'm not enjoying the slang rampant throughout the book but the writing is excellent and the story good. I'm also taking breaks from it and rereading Once Burned by Jeanine Frost because I wanted some Vlad again. 😉

I just finished listening to book 1 and 2 of the Kate Daniels series. (I've listened to them up through book 4 before and wanted to refresh my memory before moving on to the newer books. I'd like to finish that series. Curran is so hot! Love him!

I finished the last two books in the McCloud Brother's series. Now I can't decide what to read next. Sooooo many choices.
I'll let you know what I decide. My problem is I hate knowing that I'm reading books from a series out of order. If I'm missing some of them, then I don't want to start the series until I have them all. I fricken hate being OCD sometimes!
Edit - I figured it out. I'm reading the first book in the same author's new series. It's called Obsidian Files. The first book is Right Through Me. It's shorter than her McCloud Borhter's books. Only 320 pages. I'll let you know what I think when I'm done.

Whoa, this book has me riveted. I'm at 35% and I just don't want to put it down. The H is majorly alpha and possessive. Plus he has superpowers. I'll probably finish it tomorrow. Will post a review when I do. I just one clicked the second book.

You got me at "The H is majorly alpha and possessive" then you went and added "Plus he has superpowers." Umm hello! You just pushed all my yes buttons. I'm very intrigued. Definitely post a review.
I read Lassoed. Like I said, I usually like this author, but this book was bad. I gave it 2 stars only because the grammar and mechanics were mostly error free. Otherwise, it would have gotten 1 star.
Last night I finished my marathon read of the Jade Calhoun Series by Deanna Chase - books 1 through 7. Today I pre-ordered book 8 which is being released October 10th. I'm still on the fence on whether or not I want to purchase any of the novellas...
Just finished Reason to Believe by Kathleen Eagle. Was on my TBR list for a long time. Kept putting it off because of the storyline dealing with infidelity. I usually hate cheating in the books I read. Many people said it was a great story and totally believable HEA so I gave it a chance. Really liked it, so glad I did give it a chance.
