I'm not sure if ours have cameras or not but they should. I like the idea of having large stickers and audits and fines. Really, its not that hard to be responsible and do the right thing.
We have 3 cans, blue for recycle, black for regular garbage and green for lawn clippings and such. The family across the street, and they're all adults, have never used their black can. Yes, I'm nosy plus I can see it from my kitchen window. A few weeks ago we had a very windy rainy storm, and this has happened a couple of times, that when they put their green can out to be picked up the top blew open. You could see the black bags with red ties hanging out.
Is there a charge for the full black can that they'd put them in the green can? I guess I don't understand why they do it if there's no problem for using the black can, outside of pure laziness or stupidity. I'd be contacting our trash company and asking why they don't do something about it instead of just throwing it into the garden waste stuff.
I don't even have any cans to give it to the trash folks for pickup. Instead, I gather it--bins in the garage for aluminum cans & plastic, bag for steel cans, & I just throw the boxes of pasteboard & cardboard & paper into the back of the CRV as I rarely put much else in there. Then every so often, take them to the two big dumpsters in the village for recycling...posted no garbage...but invariably, someone has dumped their garbage bags in there. In town, it's included with your water & sewer bill so why bother. But outside of town (I'm 3 houses outside the village limit), it's a separate bill from the trash company themselves. I rarely put a trash can out for pickup (Monday AM) & would love to tell those folks, use mine instead; just come by, put the stuff in the can, wheel it out to the end of the drive & bring it back in after pickup on Monday. I won't even charge you for part of the cost because I'm betting they're doing it so they don't have to pay the trash folks! That's not cheap either! Costs me the same regardless of how frequently I put the can out; but get it out of the way of the recycling folks! Ah well; maybe I don't want to know them anyway...
They've talked that used to be all the recycling stuff collected was sent to China but China was getting so much & getting way behind in sorting, etc, that they started refusing to accept any more. Sure wish folks would quit using so much stuff since it can't be recycled...as I crushed another couple pasteboard pieces & put them in one of the Coke 12 pk boxes...at least all the aluminum Coke cans can be recycled since the metal can be reused, no problem...but I'm really bad about straws!
Linviolet, I hope you will feel better soon. You need your energy for those sweet children! Letting the kids run around until they wear themselves out is a win - win for all! Taking time off to enjoy the new baby and re-energize is great! Thank goodness for the public library books and Overdrive ebooks online (and Hoopla ebooks to borrow for free online). It has saved me a lot of money on books that I might want to read but don't need my own copies. It also let's you read an expensive book when it comes out and then wait for a price reduction if you want a copy later.

It's a flat charge. You can put out 1 can or all 3, half full or totally full still the same monthly charge. Today is garbage pick up day and I just noticed they put out all 3, for the first time ever. I wonder if they were contacted.
Having a problem with linking to Amazon only on this website by receiving a warning from my security software that there is a "badware risk" if I continue. Anyone else with a similar problem?
Here comes the sun even though I love that rainy day feeling!
Some people outside? a S.C. nature preserve took 2 bear cubs over the fence for selfies, now one cub is missing. The cub can't survive alone. Today I heard an adult human rolled down his/ her car window (where?) for a selfie with an adult bear!!! Do these folks have a death wish? The group with the cubs received NO reprimand at all. Do they know these are WILD animals & should remain as such???
And there's the stupido's that try for close up selfies with buffalo, then scream when the buffalo charges them! Friend & biology librarian used to comment that she wished she could block them from donating to the gene pool (have children) because they're dragging the overall intelligence quotient down!

I saw the video of that and thought they were total idiots, should be thrown in jail with the key in the bottom of the ocean. Yes, I'm that mean.

I had a whole reply typed out, and I messed up and erased it by accident. I am better, every year it feels worse than the last. I'm tired of that, I need the pollen to fix itself, get itself straightened out. I do need all the energy I can get, Ivy isn't much for long sleeps or naps, if I get her down for an hour it's a win for me. Leo was completely the opposite at her age, but she's as big of an eater as he was, lol! My public library is amazing, I love just going there to sit and read my kindle (when I was childless). And their kids section is even better, Leo adores going in and borrowing his picture books, ours also has story time, which is an hour of the librarians reading and doing activities with the little ones. And the perks of borrowing a book and if you hate it you don't have to own it to get rid of it, just hand it to the return desk and walk away, LOL! KU borrowing as well does help me out with this as well, a paid subscription but affordable enough that I can borrow and return books. I used to be the kind of reader who would read a book start to finish even if it wasn't to my taste, now DNF is my new best friend. I can happily say I haven't DNF'd that many books but wow, it's wonderful to move on to something enjoyable instead of sticking around something (similar to a bad relationship, you stick around hoping for chance instead of moving on).
All of the wildlife talk reminded me we actually have deer around here, not my area in particular but we are close enough that every 200 months if at all, we see one in a yard, but my older brother's place sees them more often. Well last weekend we were having a birthday party for my nephew and niece (her 2nd and his 1st) and just as we were packing up a deer walked right into the neighbors yard next door. All we said was that "it was fenced in thank God", because if not you don't want to imagine the panicking we would have been doing (should have been too, lol). I'm holding Ivy, Leo's asleep in a playpen and Anne and Benny were strapped into their twin stroller (double stroller). My oldest niece jokingly said, "should I take a selfie with it?" and her dad (my big brother not missing beat) "You got Lyme disease money?" Not a minute later the 14 year old's come out of the house phones ready to guess what? Yup, take a pic with that thing in the back. My younger brother started laughing, and the rest of us just kinda looked at their parents in a bit of disbelief. No they didn't take the picture, and the deer was gone after like ten minutes of roaming (wildlife showed up an hour later still looking). On our drive home we saw it again it was running towards the woods by then (the uneven horns was the only reason we knew it was the same deer). It was also on our way back that we remembered those things can jump fences and we got lucky it didn't. I swear it wasn't our brightest moment, lol! But thankfully it didn't jump and we got lucky, and everyone was safe.

A buffalo selfie? Was that for bragging rights? Lordy! Yrs. ago my sis went out West and had a buffalo burger. The buffalo would have several human burgers with a side of clothes and hats and sunglasses.

I live about one block from a forest so lots of wildlife. Last week two deer and a fox behind my home. I'm thankful I have a fenced in yard next to my deck.
linviolet-I love reading about Leo and Ivy!

I live in Deer Park, also called Sycamore Township, close to Kenwood Mall, in Cincinnati. When husband and I first moved in, we saw a large, stately, male deer, who sometimes stood in the middle of the street of our little section, as if marking his territory. We've seen deer jump neighbor's fences. No one bothers the deer.
Leo and Ivy are sweethearts. Linviolet, I hope you get some time for yourself too. Ditto for your husband.
