My oldest niece jokingly said, "should I take a selfie with it?" and her dad (my big brother not missing beat) "You got Lyme disease money?" Not a minute later the 14 year old's come out of the house phones ready to guess what? Yup, take a pic with that thing in the back. My younger brother started laughing, and the rest of us just kinda looked at their parents in a bit of disbelief.
I guffawed at your brother's response. And yep, doesn't surprise me a bit the 14 yr olds wanted a selfie, like they've never seen deer before. I've seen deer before; usually doing my best to avoid hitting them with the car!
A buffalo selfie? Was that for bragging rights? Lordy! Yrs. ago my sis went out West and had a buffalo burger. The buffalo would have several human burgers with a side of clothes and hats and sunglasses.
Okay, now we know what buffalo eat in Yellowstone! Yeah, they're having more & more trouble with the stupidos & their selfie/selfish needs in Yellowstone. They tell the tourists but duh...in one ear & out the other, I think! And don't get me started on the damage people have caused to historic items, etc, climbing on them to get their selfies!
Natasha glad to share stories of parenthood and my two my babies.
kc my older brother is a 80s kid and 90's teenager, so he's quick with the comebacks and jokes. His twins are going through that teenage thing were they are trying to fit in and still find who they are, but acting like this was the first time a deer was around their neighborhood or in a yard (like in 2020 they would see them more often in the yards) they saw quite a few animals roaming around, they know better... 2020... that was a year. They are amazing though, all of them are .
mlover I was going to make burgers for dinner tonight, I'll have to get the visual out of my head before I make them (doesn't help I watched the movie The Menu, lol!), I decided to make some baked potatoes instead. LOL! I'm going to ask the hubby to get a rotisserie chicken and call it dinner. Also bragging over wildlife is a bit crazy in my opinion, brag about the fact that you did something positive (helped clean up a park area, donated time to a center) and not about disrupting the natural order and life of the animals.

Brothers can offer us wit and wisdom, & let's face it, some of their friends are cute when we are still girls and in an awkward stage. I was shy- what do you say to boys? I thought I'd never survive. My older bro was a master of puns.

My brother is 12 years older, his friends were about the same age ranges, I think I liked maybe one of them (and not his closest and best friends either, they are like my cousins) when he was in college, but that man was was out of my brother's life two years after graduation, life and everything got in the way. But the world is so small, he is someone who works with my husband now. LOL!

My brother was 4 years my senior. This bro died 10 years ago in Oct. It was good practice from time to time to verbally interact with one of his friends. I was too afraid to date. When a little older and at a wedding, I went to the bathroom, when the bride threw the bouquet. My parents were not happy together. I started to date and met some decent guys. The man who eventually became my husband was smart and funny and honest. We did not play games. He got a college degree before his last job, his dream job. Which he enjoyed very much. He'd been an electrician etc before this.

The age difference was too big between my brother and I, and he made sure ALL of his friends respected me. And then had a talk with me about his friends. My younger brother and I are two years apart, so our friendship groups have a lot of people who are friends outside of us, some are even couples now. Older brother's friends are now sort of being integrated with ours, some because they have kids close to my own's age and others because we are older and we have more in common now than when teenagers and young adults.
My husband and my story of us meeting differs, I remember it one way he says it wasn't like that at all. He was dating around and I was working on my final project in school before graduation with the young woman he was with at the time, he didn't ask me out and I didn't do anything even though I thought he was good looking. He was already graduated and looking for a steady job while doing a part time one, the young woman asked me to help him out since I knew someone in the field he was in that was looking for a full time employee. I sent him a text with the information not anything else, didn't even add him to my contacts, I graduated, went to an event and he was there, said he was single and asked me out I said no since I had a feeling he was still seeing a few people, he says keeps telling me that by then he wasn't, took him a good 3 weeks to get me to agree to a lunch which he posed as a thank you for the job info and also appreciation that he was now working full time.
We went out to a few lunches after, and then six months later he sat me down and said he wanted something serious with me, at this time I was dating him but since I felt it wasn't a committed relationship I would not say no if anyone I found interesting asked me out. I was more than interested in my now husband being something more but because of certain conversations with the young woman he had been seeing I was being a bit more than cautious. When he said he wanted it to be just us, I said ok, and my math may be a bit off (he's actually the one who remembers aniversaries, I am horrible at that) but 9 years later here we are married with 2 kids. He hates going places without me, he calls me 3 times a day when I'm home and he's working, when we are both working I receive 3 texts asking about my day, how it's going and just sending memes to me. LOL!
If you ask him, he was dating the young woman, but he really wasn't dating around he only dated her and another young woman. And that when he saw me it wasn't at her place it was at the campus library when he went to drop her off, and she introduced us and that when I saw him again (which is where I remember meeting him) at her place he was getting something he had left there after they decided not to date anymore and just be friends. (they still are friends, but she lives in Las Vegas now and rarely ever talk) When I texted him the info for the job he took it as a sign to ask me out, but I never added him to my contacts and if he called and the number wasn't registered I didn't answer. So at the event he took a chance, got turned down, and then sent 4 texts asking me to lunch the last one saying something like, it's to thank you for hooking me up with this job. A job he quit 2 years later and went back to the place where he had started as a part timer only this time he was a full time and higher salary. There's so more to it, but this is the rated E for everyone version.

My hubs is a DIY/ tinkerer guy except plumbing. He tries to invent stuff too. When I first met him he was somewhat bosky and flirty with OW so I mostly ignored him. The next time he was sober and funny and kinda shy. He told me he was former Navy. My Mom was a Navy vet. Anyway we had a real convo--- not superficial like some guys. Here's a switch: I few days later I asked him out for lunch- to a nice eatery- not fast food- that took nerve I didn't know I had.

You just never know when love comes your way. You took a chance, got a yes. And look at how long you've been together and the ups and downs you've had. You found the one you believe to be your compliment and other half and have been blessed to have been proven correct since you're still together.
My older brothers story is one of my favorites, he was coming out of a friends dorm room, SIL was coming in with her laundry bags after having washed it. He offered to help her take it upstairs, she was on the first floor, lol! he said whenever you have time give me a call and we can go out wherever you want any time you want, pulled out a pen and piece of paper wrote down his number and name (2003, cellphones were not commonly carried around or owned), didn't ask her name. She called him, left a message with her name and set a date for Six Flags in a way to see if he would accept, 21 years later (and other stuff happening in between) 5 kids and many many adventures later they are still together.
Also my husband said to tell you because I apparently half a**ed the story so I would at least add this *insert eye roll here* lol, that we have 2 dogs as well that those were the first kids we ever had how dare I forget them, and that it's been almost 9 years in May 9th it will be 9 years but 6 years married in September. I thought we were already married 7 years, not that they have been long years I just don't keep track of it. If I'm honest there's two dates I will never forget which are my children's birthdays. My last birthday I only remembered it because I was past due date, lol!

Your brother was good to help a lady with her hands full. And your husband's right: animals are family. Husband & I have been married 39 years in Oct and we still talk to each other!!! We are on our 4th cat and she runs the show & makes up (vocalizes) words! She follows husband all over the house. He works parttime at Lowe's sometimes day, sometimes night. She sits in the window waiting for him. It is cute to watch.

My brother saw his chance and took it, while doing a good deed . He gained a wife and we gained an amazing sister. My parents have a cat, she showed up one day and never left, has a whole basement for herself now LOL! Smartest being I've ever met, no talking though, she's very in tune with my dad's emotions. Parents posted posters of her and no one ever claimed her, she's now queen of their home.
I know my dogs are my babies too , they left my husband and I for the kids now but they used to adore us , more Leo than Ivy since Leo is the one eating solids (for now) and throws down more than a few scraps, he throws a mean ball in the house too, lol! I usually mention them I swear! Fuzzbutt (legal name, named by husband and registered by husband, nicknamed Fuzzy by me Fuzz Fuzz by Leo and Fuzzywuzzy by the vet) is the the shih tzu he is the one who waits by the door whenever I leave the house, the one who barks whenever Leo is trying something he shouldn't (last time was attempting to climb a ladder) and our oldest (he's 7) is a pug named Zigzag (he's registered by me, named by me) he's the sweetest boy, adores my husband used to follow him everywhere now a little less because he's taken it upon himself to guard the windows when the babies are home, and sleeps in front of Leo's bed. Both love apples, carrots, and boiled chicken breasts, playing tug and chasing each other around the backyard for a good half hour. They both have a favorite brother of mines, the younger one, they love him and for some unknown reason every time my younger brother visit they somehow know without me saying his name, they start waiting for him both sitting next to each other looking at our backdoor because they know he's going to take them out to play.

Many decades ago, Mom & us kids brought home (intentionally) a puppy: part dachshund, part miniature pinscher, all black & tan, from the litter some friends had. They had named it Bravo (heaven knows why) but we figured it worked & called him Bravo until Dad came home. He looked at it & said "that's not a Bravo, that's a Knucklehead!" and it stuck. He was Knucklehead! Would take off sometimes & we'd have to go looking for him in the neighborhood. Fun walking around yelling "Knucklehead! Here, Knucklehead!" Neighbors got used to it, but the looks from some folks that were walking thru from the high school towards their homes...whoops!
I can imagine it, because that little one made me run a few blocks after him when we had a messed up fence, he slid out and made a run for it. And I had to chase after him, calling him Fuzzy first, but had to yell out his government name before he slowed down enough for me to catch him.
And he got his name because shih tzu pups have a fuzz like fur, and his booty was the first thing he showed us from his carrier bag, he came to us when he was around 8 weeks old, his mama had killed a pup and just didn't (whole rejection for the liter) want them at all near her, I got him for my nieces and nephew but at the time my brother had just had a baby so no puppy for them, I took him in (secretly but not so secretly I think I wanted him and he knew he belonged to us). Took me a whole month to get Zigzag to fully accept Fuzzy as his baby brother, and training him at such a young age, I got my younger brother at the time who was a senior in university to stay days in the house with them (their love for him stems from this time) since he was attending his last two classes in the evening.
