I’m listening/reading THE WARLORD by Gena Showalter. It’s good but honestly the tone is Kresley Cole. It’s like the Harpies are now 100% Valkyrie. The names and overall voice feels more Immortal After Dark than Lords of the Underworld.
I wish there were new books by Kresley Cole to read. I think it’s been three years since her last release.
Me too! She has stopped providing any updates so not sure if she will ever even write again
I finished a reread of my fave Carla Kelly book, Doing No Harm. Such a wonderfully sweet romance between two kind, compassionate characters who find their own peace in each other. It's a clean read with only a little kissing. It's also on KU.
I finished reading Heart on a Leash by Alanna Martin it took me a little longer than usual to finish it because of real life getting in the way of my reading time. I say it would have been a solid 4 star book for me until nearly the end when the hero did something so out of character that I was dumbfounded. I give it a 3.5 stars, brought down because of characters surrounding the H and h, it would have been a good read if those two things didn't detract from the story as a whole.
I am now reading No Man can Tame by Miranda Honfleur the first book in a fantasy series called Dark-Elves of Nightbloom. I am enjoying it, A 4.5 star so far unless it does what Hearts on a Leash and pulls a trope that just doesn't go with the character.

I thought the same, I was getting Immortals after Dark vibes. I was super excited last year when I thought Munro was gonna come out it was the other book I was super excited for. I wanted Lothaire, Munro and I want Nix's book as well as Lothaire's (forgot the name) brother's book but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
I read Guest a year or so ago and enjoyed it, too. If you read the sequel, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts, bluebear.
I'm fairly certain that I read the Leopard King. If it's the book I'm thinking of, I recall thinking that the presence of cell phones seemed inappropriate given the world as it was described.

I will let you know if Guest pt 2 is any good. Regarding the Leopard King I didn't think that there was enough background information given regarding the world and the different clans, it might become clearer as the series progresses but I would have appreciated more details in this book. I was listening to it while doing other things so maybe my mind wandered, it might read better and make more sense on a second attempt.

Swept Away: A Sixteenth Summer novel by Michele Dalton
I have to admit this is one of the times I let the cover of the book influence my book decision! I would love for a guy to kiss me like the guy is kissing the girl on the cover of the book. ( providing that the guy is kind, gentle, smart, has a sense of humor and of course is cute!) And the description of the books says the main character, she is working at lighthouse in Maine for the summer and I have a love and fascination of lighthouses.

I know this thread is for books and not poems. But today I read Stolen Child by William Butler Yeats. Stolen Child moved me to tears. So haunting and touching. Definitely on my list of Molly's favorite poems.
I wish my inner reading voice could do an amazingly authentic terrific Irish accent.
I love poetry and read it often. Most recently, I've read a lot of Joy Harjo's poems, the current US Poet Laureate.
I love the poems of Joy Harjo! Plus she is also from Oklahoma!

Hey everyone, hope you all had an enjoyable mother's day weekend. I sure did, we had a nice family brunch on Sunday and instead of a physical gift mom asked to spend a whole day with all of us, which will happen next weekend for her birthday bash. I finished reading No Man Can Tame by Miranda Honfleur, and then went right to the second book Bright of the Moon the second book deals with a unicorn shifter, which is different for me. I have never read a book with a unicorn shifter before. Both books are interesting enough and I give them 3.5 stars each. It would have been 4 star read but something happens in each that brought down the ratings.
I am now in the middle of Wicked Intentions by Elizabeth Hoyt which is a book I am giving a second chance. I tried reading the series a while back and just could not get into it, and now there's a few people I have seen raving about the book. I will say that I am still not convinced that I believe the whole set up of the book series. I will say that I am quite loving the description of the hero, the long white hair takes me to two different characters that have that shocking white head of hair. One from a video game and the other man is from the Harry Potter series. Sephiroth (which is the one I think goes more with Lazarus' looks than the second man, Lucius Malfoy (I couldn't find a good image of the man so I went with this link, which give me the vibe that I think Hoyt was going for with Lazarus's character's attitude and the way he carries himself.)

I liked it. My favorite of the series is book 3 Scandalous Desires. I've read all 12 of the full length books the series. I liked some better than others. I don't think there needed to be 12 books in it, however. But that's because I'm not liking drawn out series' by any authors these days. I don't see the need for more than quartet.
Speaking of long series', I finished rereading A Secret Love, part of the Cynster series, by Stephanie Laurens. I've read it a few times, but there was always one thing that confused me in it. The h, being the eldest, always refers to all of her younger siblings as her step-siblings. That would mean that when her father married her step-mother that the step-mother already had children from a previous marriage. Her brother, Charlie, inherits the title from her father and is the earl later in his own book. But if that's her step-brother, how can he inherit her father's title? If I'm not mistaken, you can't inherit a title unless you are a blood relative. Did anyone else notice that? I mean it could be a typo, but that's a typo throughout the whole book. I'm surprised that the editor didn't notice that.
Now I'm rereading Someone to Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas. Its been a while since I've read it.
Finished Mandy and the Tentacle Monster by Bebe Harper a quick lighthearted read. The first half of the book was pretty good, I found it to be very funny and I wanted to keep reading more. The second half was a bit of a let down, I think author tried to cram in too many different stories into what was a short read. Would have been better concentrating on a slower development of the relationship between Mandy and Seven. With everything else going on I felt the progress of their relationship was too rushed and overall unsatisfying. A few typos need to be fixed, overall a 3/5, will try a second in the series to see if it improves but will borrow on KU. Book has a cheesy title and cover but probably suit the style of the book.
I just finished the first one, another 3.5 star rating, not bad but nothing really stood out to me, I think I'll skip to this book though because the 2nd on just doesn't interest me period. Though the cover model is rather eye catching. I'll skip to the pirate and the heroine named Silence. I hope I'm not too lost in the book.

I don't think you'll be lost in book 3 if you don't read book 2. IIRC, the h from book 2 maybe shows up a couple of times in Scandalous Desires. I think that SD should have been the 2nd book instead of Notorious Pleasures anyway. And only because I was impatient to learn about what happened between Silence and Charming Mickey when she stayed with him.
