Has been a while since I read anything by L H Cosway, her books are always a bit different but she is yet to disappoint and I can add Fauxmance to the list. When I read the preview I was a bit nervous about how the storyline would develop and whether this might be a DNF book for me. The hero is a male escort who helps a shy bookworm overcome her fears and start to live her life as she wants. This is a delightful love story and now I need to read book 1 as I didn't realise it was part of a series, they can be read out of order but I do want to learn all about Rose and Damons story.
I read a short Mary Jo Putney Christmas story, The Christmas Cuckoo, which I enjoyed. It's a very short older story, and the romance moved along quickly, but it's an entertaining quick read. I also finished an HM by a new author for me, Nancy Campbell Allen's, The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart. It's a Victorian story with a fairly equal combination of romance and mystery-maybe a bit more romance. I expected it to be book one of a series of mysteries where the h and H slowly get to know and love each other by the time you've read several books. This book is a complete, charming romance with great MC's, IMO, along with an interesting, sometimes suspenseful, mystery.
bonnieg Glad to hear that you enjoyed The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart, I added that audiobook into my library yesterday . I thought it sounded good and as it is part of Audible Plus can listen for free....not that I needed any more books in my library.
bluebear I think you will like the book. I have so many mysteries series I follow, I almost didn't read this one to add to the list. It is complete in itself, but I can see some sequels coming dealing with other characters in the book, which I will probably want to read. Authors are tricky, aren't they.
I finished book 3 of Julie Anne Long's Palace of Rogues series, I'm Only Wicked With You and really liked it. It reminded me of her book, What I Did For a Duke, one of my favorites. Hugh is an American with lots of ambition and a plan for political success in America. Lillias is strong-willed daughter of an earl who wants more from life. The story is beautifully written and shows, mostly through conversations, their growing love. There are other interesting characters you get to know and like. No spies, no villains, just a great romance. I would read the whole series in order, but this book works okay by itself.
I finished More of Us to the West (The Adrift Series Book 1) by Trinity Dunn at 4am today. The sequl (or pt 2 since book 1 is a cliffy) was supposed to be released yesterday and it wasnt! On fb she said that there is some copyright issue and she wasnt sure when it would be out! Argh! Book 1 was amazing. A bit of a slow burn and pretty long for a book where I need to read book 2 but it was so good I'm not even mad at the undisclosed cliffy.
I enjoyed reading Sally Britton's Her Unsuitable Match which I really liked. One reviewer said, "A clean, heartwarming, marriage-of-convenience Regency" and that says it all. It's low angst, sweet story that has a hero who as a soldier suffered physically and emotionally and a heroine who had an unpleasant childhood. They are great together.
I have been slowly enjoying The Snowdrop by Jayne Fresina, her books are not meant to be rushed through nor to be read when you are distracted. I loved this gentle romance. As the story switched between the past and the present you slowly learn about the history between the Daisy and Dash. The actions of this patient hero have moved him up into one of my favorite heroes. I do wish some of this authors books were available in audio, with the right narrator (Alex Windham or Kate Reading) they would be auto buys for me. It will be tough to pick a favorite read for November.
I read a Christmas anthology, Kissing Under the Mistletoe, with short stories by Suzanne Enoch, Amelia Grey, and Anna Bennett, all authors I enjoy. They all have relatively quick, but believable, romances, and the last story was probably my favorite, and the steamiest. Now I'm reading a full-length Christmas story, How the Duke Saved Christmas by Anna Harrington. It's a second chance story that has a more Christmas feel that the anthology I read. There are also four cute kids. I'm liking it so far.
BTW, I had a pop-up box explaining a grammar error I wrote-which I knew about because I hadn't added my book link yet. Something new and strange IMO. Spelling correction is one thing, but grammar? Can't get away with anything.

Last night I finished Death by Laura Thalassa, all I can I say that he's well... death, but also a stubborn/set on his ways cinnamon roll hero, a 4 star rating overall, Pestilence is the 1st book and I think it's safe to say it's still my favorite, though Ana from Famine is my favorite character. I am now reading, The Tyrant Alpha's Rejected Mate by Cate C. Wells downloaded it into my kindle this morning before heading out to work, and started reading it during my lunch break. I am enjoying it, the hero is an alpha who rejects his mate because his wolf does not recognize Una as his mate until it's too late so he has to work in earning back her trust and fix what he messed up. So far, I am enjoying it, hero gives me 90's jock vibes (high school movie like, but not a bully type just perceived as one).
I'm going to cancel my KU subscription tomorrow so I've been scrambling to read everything I had downloaded. I have fallen in love with Em Petrova books. This week, I've read her Up in Flames : Firefighter Romance Box Set, the Where There's Smoke series, the WEST Protection series and Xtreme Pressure (Xtreme Ops Book 6) I also read Brutal Claim (Planet of Kings Book 2) by Lee Savino and I have until tomorrow to finish Perfect Monster: A Dark Mafia Romance (The Oligarchs Book 1) by B. B. Hamel
I'm really hoping for a good deal on KU subscriptions and that I'll get that for Christmas! (even if I have to give it to myself!)
