I'm with you on the Mariana Zapata books, big fan. I've read all of them and to be honest the only one I wasn't fond of was Lingus. She usually has a new book out this time of the year but sadly nothing so far.
My favourite, have relistened to this many many times... a frustrating hero but I liked him and I hope you warm to him too. Another big fan of MZ patiently waiting for a new release.
Have quite enjoyed reading a freebie I picked up last week The Roommate 'dis'Agreement by Leddy Harper A divorced lonely guy looking for a roommate puts out an interesting add. Our heroine a young single mother decides to reply more as a lark and their relationship slowly develops. She has had it tough, in case it's a trigger for others she was sexually abused as a minor, I didn't see this mentioned in the reviews I read. Hero has an unusual job that we really don't learn about until the end. Happy ending and a 4/5 rating for me.

I finished a couple of books that I enjoyed. Her Wicked White by Tammy Andresen and The Mysterious Miss Fairchild by Sarah Mallory. Both were well-written and had likeable characters, but not books I would reread. I've thought about what my favorite books have in common and it's a sense of seeing the romance develop, mostly by lots of conversation, and a sense of humor. Both these stories needed more that those, IMO.
After trying to read the book by Laura Kinsale, I did go ahead and read a Kat Martin book from my TBR pile. I read Heartless. I really liked it. Now I'm reading Gypsy Lord, also by Kat Martin. So far, I've liked everything I've read from her. I had heard of Kat Martin before but it wasn't till last month that I picked anything up from her. I like discovering good authors that have an extensive backlist. Gives me plenty of options to choose from. If only I had room for all the books that I recently got
I'm re-reading Fury Book 1 New Species Series and enjoying them. They are quite dated but still a good mix of silly and sweet. Loved the Hs being so 'mine', some of the heroines are great some are are just OK. I like to get value from my books, so happily mix re-reads with new buys.

Josie, Last Goodnight by Kat Martin is currently on sale for 3.99. Probably doing it with the 2nd bk in the series releasing 5/31.

Sounds interesting. I've only been reading her Historicals. Are her Romantic Suspense books good? The only RS books I read are by Pamela Clare. I used to read Sandra Brown and Karen Robards but, along the way, the books became more heavy on the suspense and less so on the romance. That's why I like Pamela's books. She has a good balance of romance and suspense.
I finished The Wall of Winnipeg and Me and I loved this book. I'm definitely getting a paper version. As I live in France, I can't find English books in bookstores, most of them are translated to French but I prefer to read books in English. So I read the Kindle/Ebook version and if I like the book, I buy it in the paper version (as it's hard to give them away or sell them quickly if I don't like them.) I wish I knew that this book would be great. I would have loved to read the physical book for the first time, it's just a special feeling.
I liked Sir Ross, the way he cares for Sophia and gave her multiple chances.
But I can't seem to like the third book, Worth Any Price. I tried it before but I DNFed it after reading 10% of the books, I'll probably try to read it again.

I'm the same way. I actually have all of her books in both paper and the electronic version. I'll buy the electronic version first because I want to read it right away and the paper version takes a few weeks to come out.

I'm sorry, Josie, I don't know! I've never read Kat Martin, I just noticed that the book was on sale & that you'd mentioned recently discovering her work. I didn't realize the difference in the works. And I love Pamela Clare, but I've reread her modern works way more than her historicals--I think because I love those ones set in Colorado so much! One thing, this one being on sale (and I notice her books aren't cheap!) gives you a chance to try the moderns at not much cost, unless you can get them thru the library! Good Luck!

I'm this way on several of my main authors: NR/JD Robb, Elizabeth Lowell, JAK in all her nom de plumes...except I've not bought the last few titles in pbk format! I'm keeping all the ones I do own, but between space & hand concerns, I'm just not rereading in the pbk format as much as I used to! I've got an Amanda Quick sitting by the big chair being reread (very slowly!) & a JD Robb out in the car that I reread when I'm waiting somewhere but anymore, I'm usually reaching for the Kindle when doing long-term reading time.
You've all heard about the fun of moving the pbks out of the bedroom for the painting job; roughly 40 bags of pbks to empty the bookshelves & headboard. I started to load them back in & realized that I have so many thousands of books in the Kindle, not many (beyond the main authors) repeating those pbks, and I'm not reading them & some have been waiting for many years to be opened. I'm thinking that I'm going to weed most of them out & not reload them. I'll still have many pbks because of all those I listed last fall when weeding/listing etc but I know ones that I did try to read never went very far. Plus the less tightly packed the pbks of my fav authors, the better access to them--finding a specific one before was a challenge! It seemed to always be in the last of the many long stacks I looked thru!
Now to find a place (uncovered & with a chair!) that I can go thru them--after all, don't want to throw away one that I do want to try! Yeah, this is going to be a challenge! I hate weeding/discarding! I have to rein in that internal hoarder!
Jang Sumin - When I love a book I've read I check for the audio version and hope they are available and have a decent narrator, I gave up on paper copies a few years back. Thankfully all of MZ books are great in audio.

That's ok, kc! I should have mentioned it was her Historicals I was devouring. The RS book you mentioned, luckily, is available to request from my library. So I requested it. It'll be interesting to see if I like it as much as her Historical books. I've read all of Pamela's Historical books. And even though I much prefer Historical to Contemporary, I like Pamela's Contemporaries better.
Josie, I thought "you know, I should read one of hers & see how I like her work..." but the one above isn't on sale anymore. However, another one is: One Last Kiss (Blood Ties) Listed as lighter than most of her works, I liked the beginning--spoiled rich girl required by her Uncle's to work a month on a Colorado dude ranch or forfeit all the money she would get--and she likes that rich lifestyle. For 2.99, I'll give her a try! Now...how long before I get around to reading it???
