Fairytale Come Alive has the dead wife watching over the H and her children as a ghost who is helping the H fall for his first love again.
That sounds awful.
I've read KA's Fanstasyland Series, Sweet Dreams, Breathe, Law Man, Penmort Castle, Sommersgate House, Lacybourne Manor, With Everything I Am.
Could you, ladies, recommend me something of hers which: 1. DO NOT have: heroine older than 35 (they never act their age in KA books so the older the heroine the harder for me to reason out her immature behaviour) separation longer than a few weeks/months other woman/women cheating widowed or divorced H/h (unless it was a bad, loveless marriage) second chance romance single parent h/H
2. DO have Sweet/ shy heroine (like Mara from Law Man or Faye from Breathe) but not doormat Alpha H with a redeemable level of a*holeness and eyes solely on h.
Thank you in advance.

sinnamon...I'm going to recommend a KA book that I LOVED and have re-read multiple times. Unfortunately it does have two from your "do not have" list. A divorced h and single parent. Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley I love Joker and Carissa!

Thank you, SAB.
I've had a bad streak lately and last three books I've read weren't that great. So I'm in need of an awesome story.
sinnamon, have you tried The Gamble? I loved Nina & Max both. But again, a couple things on your Not list: he was previously married but not a problem for him, and she's trying to break off a current "relationship" with an idiot that just doesn't get it! The dinner at the fancy restaurant is an absolute hoot! I hope it works for you! But honestly, so many of the "don't wants" are typical KA, esp. in her "burg series!
Oh, Bounty is one of my top favorites! No previous marriages, etc, no long separation for them to get over, well...they did meet once but not really a relationship...and the best sounding guy in a man-bun I've run across yet!

I've read neither The Gamble nor Bounty. They sound good. Thank you. I don't really mind previous relationships or marriages unless H/h was deeply in love with a former spouse and is heartbroken over the loss. It always feels like H/h is his/her second choice.

True. KA is such a formulaic writer. She seems to have a trouble to go beyond her comfort zone. That is why I like her writing in small doses. More than 3 books in the row and I get a feeling like I'm reading the same book over and over again.

I was going to recommend Three Wishes. The heroine is sweet and shy, and is not older than 35, etc. There is a separation (the H's step-brother and step-sister, who are both jealous of him, lie to keep them apart, so she's alone when she has his child, but works hard and cannily to bring up her daughter). This is atypical Kristin Ashley.
When Lily Jacobs was born, she inherited Fazire – a genie. Her family had three wishes and they’d only ever used one so Fazire was stuck in the human world. This worked since he’d become a member of the family anyway.
Even with a genie, Lily's young life wasn’t perfect. To escape the kids making her miserable at school, Lily buried herself in romance novels. One day, when the teasing was just too much, she used one of her wishes. She told Fazire she wanted to find a man like in her books and she made the most complicated wish Fazire had ever heard. Her wished-for man had to be impossibly handsome, virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless (amongst a dozen other things).
He also had to think she was beautiful and he had to love her more than anything in the world.
Nathaniel McAllister wasn’t born to a life where there were such things as genies granting wishes. His life was filled with drugs, crime and neglect. He was running errands for a gangster before he was in his teens and, even though life and hard work led him to wealth and respectability, he always knew, deep down, he was dirty. When Nate met Lily he knew he was no good for her but as virile, fierce, rugged and ruthless as he was, Nate was no match for the pull of sweet, innocent Lily.
Unfortunately, Lily’s wish included that she and her hero go through trials and tribulations to test their love. And Fazire wasn’t only a good genie, he loved Lily – so he gave her exactly what she wanted.

Thank you, Ariane! For how long they were separated? Did H grovel for believing his family's lies and leaving h? Were there other women in his life when they were apart? Did he know about his daughter?
I loved RIDE STEADY too, and both Joker and Carissa were a lot younger than most of K A's leads
Oh heck yes! One of my absolute faves of hers. And though they are probably her youngest couple, they're probably the most sensible. Not really a separation or reunion or 2nd chance type them - more of a missed opportunity thing, since they knew each other, but never got further than that.
Similarly Bounty... they met one night 7 years previous but nothing came of it. No kids, no exes. 34 yr old heroine.
Also Play it Safe might fit... there's a separation caused by her brother, but only 2 years, if I'm remembering correctly. No exes and no kids. Mid-twenty-something heroine. Maybe Heaven and Hell... she's widowed (abusive marriage though) since his mistress's husband killed him. 6 month separation. No kids. 28-ish year old heroine. Lady Luck... no exes, her dead previous one and only lover she has no rose coloured glasses about any more. No kids. A few week separation (coz she's not a doormat, and leads to a really decent apology/grovel from the hero). 34 yr old heroine.
Has anyone read COMPLICATED yet? I just got it but I'm reading Miranda Neville's DUKE of DARK DESIRES in paperback and Mary Balogh's latest series on my kindle so I hate to start it .I call her my kindle krack once I start I dont want to stop.
I got it and read it last night. Started at 7 and finished at around 2 or so. It is a big book! I read pretty fast and can never stop once i start but I should have known better and held off until Friday. (yeah, right.) I did like it but it could have used a slap back from the h along the lines of Dusty and Mike in Games of the Heart (I think?). H in this deserved a big one and it was kind of wimpy IMO.
bobby19 Not yet, my sister in law has it and will be reading, then she's lending it to me.
Banana Boat I imagine I will be that way too. (usually with K.A books I am that way) Whenever I get it I know I will be cuddling with the book in my favorite couch in the living room,my snacks, and drinks and abandoning all responsibilities for that day, lol!
I have it, but haven't started it yet. I'm still on my Guhrke odyssey; I've read thru the Girl Bachelors and the American Heiresses and started the Guilty series early this morning. But I started that out of order (sorry, Secret Romance Junkie!); I wanted to know how the H gets the h un-mad (??) at him. However, I'm getting annoyed at the h; several times, I've said "Viola, grow up!!! yes, life is unfair, yada, yada, but girl, it's your bed; now deal with it!" As you can tell, I mix metaphors when I'm annoyed by a character!
