Diane, thanks for the info on COMPLICATED. I think I will wait until next week to start it.My son and daughter-inlaw are going out of town for 3 days and I will have the house to myself and I plan on doing nothing but read and eat TV dinners. LOL
I'm about halfway thru Rock Chick and have almost decided that she was channeling Evanovich while writing it. Only halfway and it's a bit crazy what has happened so far. Hopefully things will start to resolve soon!!
Does it help to say that I laughed out loud three different times? It's typical KA with the fascination with the make-up and clothes, and I got a bit annoyed with the h a few times; she bordered on tstl a bit but she grew up a bit and I liked her sense of loyalty. Only two cars were destroyed and neither belonged to her. In early Stephanie Plum (I liked them also), she killed a car every book! I liked when the garbage truck fell on one Ranger loaned her the best! Also a wild range of characters, again a LA Evanovich. Yes, I have to say I enjoyed it. I've moved on to RC Rescue (#2),and so far so good. I know in the ammy discussion thread, a lot of folks didn't like the RC series. Maybe too much like Evanovich??
RC Rescue is "Rock Chick Rescue", the second book in the Rock Chick series by Kristen Ashley. Once I started reading the first Rock Chick book, I couldn't stop until I finished the series. They always had some good laughs or cries in the adventures of this whacky group. When I read about the gals and all their friends around town, I wanted to read everyone's story and which gal would be with which guy. Some were better than others, but I was almost sad when the series was done. That was why I was glad she revisited the series with the recent Rock Chick Awakening novella which I enjoyed. My favorite in the series is Rock Chick Regret. I've read it 4 times.
]I read the Rock Chicks series pretty early in my KA discovery and really liked them until I read Rock Chick Regret. In that book the Rock Chicks just seemed like mean girls so I never felt the same about them and I haven't reread the books since. I don't really think of Stella from Rock Chick Reckoning as one of the Rock Chicks since she had so many other things going on in her life. Her book was kinda weird to me because if she didn't get caught up in that book's villain's revenge (can't remember the details) I wasn't sure if Mace would have ever gotten back together with her.
Thanks, Ms. D, yes, Rock Chick Rescue. I enjoyed it; but again, more wild characters added a la Evanovich! The stun gun in the bar sequence (both times) was a hoot! I'm now in Rock Chick Redemption (#3 in the series) and thinking how many more characters can we add without getting totally confused??? After all, we've got to find gals for all the hot guys in Nightingale Investigations. I can't decide which I want more; Vance or Mace or Hank...except Hank is gone as of Redemption. Ah well, I think I'm in the series for the long haul!
Continuing my Rock Chick series read; I finish one & immediately (if at all possible) move right to the next. I finished Renegade during the night & thought oh, I'll just get Revenge set up to start reading later...then I started reading it. I got about 2 hours sleep last night when the Kindle finally slipped out of my hands and the eyes closed in self-defense! Yep, the stories are all very similar; the gals all have trust issues due to being left or treated badly in one form or another; the guys don't have much patience until they understand the issues, and even then, not in some areas. I've noticed that in her series; each series has similar issues in the books of that series. But dang, these things are addictive! I still say she was channeling Evanovich when writing them; wild cast of characters that keep growing; wild things happening, including car chases & shootouts (I love the way Vance & Jules meet in Renegade!) I think I've got 4 more to go including the 1001 nights novella, so that's what I'll be reading this weekend! Quite a switch from Guhrke's Historicals!
I couldn't read the Rock Chick books one after the other. If I did, I would have put a bullet in my head. I never ended up reading the last book in the series. I heard it was all about "Ally" and the H was more like a secondary character.
If I had to pick two that were my favourites they'd be Indy and Liam, Sadie and Hector.
Some I have liked while others not so much while yet in a few of them, h's I previously liked a lot became annoying in later books ...
Has anyone read Complicated yet? I heard it when it released on audio .... I couldn't get into it and now that I have it in print, I'm reluctant to start it ....

That's what got me into reading Rock Chicks; Ally, Ren, Brody & Darius after Faith is rescued in Breathe from the Colorado Mountain Series, esp. when Ren carts Ally off over his shoulder. The Rock Chick title picks up from there. So I'm wondering if there will be some of their story in the remaining Rock Chick books because Ren is introduced in my current one: Revenge (Luke & Ava). He's interested in Ava (well, Uncle Vito is interested in him marrying Ava--I think Ren is more interested in yanking Luke's chain) At what point does he switch to Ally?

Ally and Ren's book goes quite a ways back. You cover some of the same ground as other RC books from diff perspective.
