Since the "best and worst of KA" thread has been fairly active again lately over on ammy, I thought I'd migrate a KA thread over here as well.
Oooh, the ebook version of Complicated is a month away now. Looking forward to this one. I haven't done the audio version that came out months back since I'm not a huge fan of audios - I can read soooooo much faster that I get really impatient with the audio versions, specially for long books (and KA does loooooong books).
Hoping for good things with it. I liked the most recent Magdalene book, loved the Daisy & Marcus novella, loved Bounty.... wasn't interested in the bdsm sex club series, and I've been putting off Sebring as well (the preview snippet really didn't grab me like they usually do).
Hi, Folks, I'm to Epilogue in Hold On the last book in the "Burg series. Have been laughing; I live about 500 ft in on the Ohio side of the Indiana/Ohio Border, so about 115 miles from "the 'burg". Don't seem to know anyone around here as much in big hair & makeup as the gals are in "the 'burg", but maybe I'm just not meeting the right people? After all, they all got their man, and they do seem like fun men! I cheered watching a Cincinnati Reds game before end of regular season; their really great catcher, Tucker Barnhart, is from Brownsburg, Indiana. The name even sounds right for Brownsburg!
I did enjoy it; had to kind of wince at how fast Merry got his thinking re-aligned, but Cher had it right in what she said to him! And I actually began to feel sorry for Peggy; she pushed too hard, but hopefully her family will help her go on! I have an urge to go back & reread a few in the series. Normal!
Kristen Ashley has a new book called The Hookup coming out this December, It is up for pre-order on Amazon.
Yessss!!!! to the imminent arrival of a new KA... nooooo!!! to it being a triangle, or heroine is 2nd choice. Wait a sec? Which woman is even supposed to be the heroine? Drat, looks like one I'm gonna be waiting to see reviews and spoilers of before I can even think of going there. So don't like triangles and/or heroine being 2nd best! And it's so unlike KA to give us one of these - she's usually the queen of the all-(and only)-about-the-heroine hero type.
From the book page on the KA board on Goodreads: ----------------------------------------------------------
New series! Publication date, December 19, 2017!
Blurb: When the new girl in town, Eliza “Izzy” Forrester decides to hit the local drinking hole, she’s not ready to meet the town’s good, solid guy. She’s definitely not prepared to engage in her very first hookup with him.
Then Izzy wakes up the next morning in Johnny Gamble’s bed and good girl Izzy finds she likes being bad for Johnny.
Even so, Izzy feels Johnny holding her at arm’s length. But Johnny makes it clear he wants more and Izzy already knows she wants as much of hot-in-bed, sweet-out-of-it Johnny Gamble.
Floating on air thinking this is going somewhere, Izzy quickly learns why Johnny holds distant.
He’s in love with someone else. Someone who left him and did it leaving him broken. Whoever was up next would be runner up, second best. Knowing the stakes, Izzy will take what she can get from the gentleman that’s Johnny Gamble. And even knowing his heart might never mend, Johnny can’t seem to stay away from Izzy.
Until out of nowhere, his lost love comes back to town. He’s not going back, but Johnny still knows the right thing to do is let Izzy go.
And Izzy knew the stakes, so she makes it easy and slips though his fingers.
But that’s before Johnny realizes Eliza moved to town to escape danger that’s been swirling around her.
And that’s why Johnny decides to wade in.
That and the fact Eliza Forrester makes breakfast with a canary singing on her shoulder and fills out tight dresses in a way Johnny Gamble cannot get out of his head.
------------------------------------------------ So yeah, looks like some sort of triangle. Yuk.
Nah, she does a lot of these! In Hold On, Merry thought he was still hung up on the ex-wife that he drove away. Cheryl set him straight that the ex-wife should have tried also; he switched to Cheryl, and suddenly, spoiled brat of ex-wife wanted him back & was lying to folks, including her dad, about it. In The Promise, Fran said but I was married to your brother...He didn't care once he got his head straightend out that it was the brother's fault he got mixed up with the mob & killed, not hers. Dusty wanted Mike, who had dated her older sister & older sis tried to re-start as well...but she was a nasty piece of work! This one sounds along the same line; he just has to realize the old gal isn't what he wants & Eliza/Izzy has to accept that he knows what he wants. Always a slight problem there; so many of the gals think the guy doesn't know. Shoot; the Gamble; Nina had to be convinced that Max could love her, even after the "perfection" of Anna! Sounds like more KA fun to me!
I like her books .... well, not all of them ... but most of the time she does good but lately I feel like I'm getting tired of the same 'big hair out to there and smoky eyes'
I like her books too. Along with my old JULIE GARWOOD medievals and AMANDA QUICK single word titles shes one of my comfort re-reads.In fact after reading a couple of disappointing K U E-BOOKS Im rereading the ROCK CHICKS series.
Banana Boat--I love them! My favorites are bk1 bk2 and bk7,but they are all good. And they are better if you read in order because each book kind of leads into the next and same characters in and out of each others story.
I have a love/hate relationship with KA. Some of her books are outstanding and then others, I can't even get past the first few chapters. Plus, who and which books I seem to like are not favourites of others. I haven't read a new release of hers since Apollo, which was probably a couple of years ago. Still waiting on more from her Chaos series.
